| Steelers Coach? |

How is it, that in the sports world of today, that the coach of the Steelers went 14 years with the same team without winning a Super Bowl and without getting the boot? Did he get 'close but no cigar' enough to keep him around? Something in his contract? |

The owners had faith and realized that it took time to put together something great. He also lost the AFC championship game a few times and also went to the Super Bowl but lost to Dallas. So the Steelers have always been good, but just couldnt get over the hump for a while. |

The Steelers owner had faith in him. Plus he is from Pittsburgh, and is a great coach and a great guy. In fourteen years he's mad 6 AFC Championships and 2 Super Bowls. I believe he's only missed the playoffs twice all together, and has only had one losing season in 14 years. He's a good coach and it would have been foolish to fire him. More owners should take their cue from the Rooney family. Coach Cower is Pittsburgh STEELERS! Home grown, and full of talent and effort. The Rooneys know a good thing when they hire him. In his 14 year tenure, Cowher has had three losing seasons: 7-9 in 1998, 6-10 in 1999, and 6-10 in 2003. Cowher managed to keep his job for 14 years because the Rooney family values stability and loyalty. They believed in Bill Cowher's coaching ability and showed it when they didn't fire him after missing the playoffs for three straight years (1998, 1999, and 2000). |
