| Do Quarterbacks get the boot much more quickly nowadays? |

see Rex Grossman and Chad Pennington. didn't Troy Aikman start his career 1-15 with Dallas? they saw talent in him and kept him as the starter winning numerous Superbowls. nowadays if a team is 1-5 they are seriously considering a change at QB even if its not your fault and your making the right passes. why has this changed? |

"they saw talent" in Aikman |

teams...unlike a lot of fans...realize that you can't blame the QB for everything I would say yes. And, there also seems to be a lot of indecision at the QB position. With teams switching the starter every few games I'm not sure how the offense ever gets used to the changes. QBs get the boot quicker now because there is more pressure to win right away. NFL coaches dont have time to sit through 1-15 seasons because they will be fired. Loyalty and rebuilding are not what the used to be, so coaches rotate QBs to give the team the "best chance to win" right away. Yes and should Just seems so this year. I think teams like the Colts and Patriots force losing teams to scramble. Colts, Patriots, Steelers have proven to be perennial winners this decade. Year after year, these teams either win SBs or have winning seasons. Other teams struggle. So they have to quickly get results - impatience. Kinda unfortunate. Some of those QBs probably wouldve done better in other teams. But FB is a full team sport. Colts and Pats have proven that personnel management is key. So... maybe the league needs to find better personnel people first. Then players... |
