why do people say that vick pulled the race card?when did his lawyers mention anything about race?

i think this term is so over used that people dont even know what it means anymore.

I don't think people are referring so much to Vick or his lawyers pulling the race card as much as the people have. Every time anyone asks a question about Vick in here, at least one bonehead will come on and say the only reason anyone cares about this is because Vick is black. Somewhere along the line, these people have gotten the impression that federal prosecutors have nothing else to do with their time but hunt down famous black men.
And yes, you are right. The term has lost some of it's impact because it has been overused. But the term racism has also lost its' impact because of the fact that it seems to be used to defend anyone of color almost instantly. If I've learned anything in my life that is useful, it is that punks and thugs come in all colors.
Look at veggie for a great example of a person who uses it to death.

They didn't, but the race card is when a minority brings up his or her race to distract from the reality of a case or situation (like what happened in the OJ case.)

its when you say youre being treated badly and you say its because of your race(prodominently black) and make excuses that the feds tried to trap you because youre young, black and rich, but this is only in vicks case. and his lawyers never mentioned anything about it but fans of vick,(black and white) are going to naturally want to defend him because they are loyal, like fans are supposed to be.

Vick is not pulling the race card. Society is doing it for him. Some of these questions and/or answers writers post are using race as an excuse for Vick's actions. There is no excuse for his actions with the exception of perhaps he could be mentally ill. The manner in which they primped their dogs for fights and how the dogs were killed was purely sick.

the race card is when whites refuse to face reality. if you want to play the race card with mike vick a good place to start is with va. tech and the falcons who let him run wild with no discipline because they needed him to make money.

Oh boy Alan, a NEW excuse to add to the pile for Michael Vick's behavior. I have heard them all now....Your blame on VT and the Falcons for Vick's behavior is just above another poster who blamed the DOGS......Vick is not a child, he should be a responsible adult.

Vick didn't pull the race card. A lot of his supporters were sure trying though.

The race card was used in the Duke Lacrosse case by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton ( and an over-zealous prosecuter looking to make a big name before an election). Several innocent college athletes' lives were ruined by the word of a crack-ho and not one shred of evidence.

The Tawana Brawley case was Sharpton's coming out party, and a classic for race card play. A girl stayed out for a couple of days doing drugs and partying with some boys, and was afraid of what her Dad was going to do to her when she got home. So they made up this story about being captured and tortured by racists. Once again not one shred of evidence so scream "racist".

Of course the Granddaddy of all time was the O.J. case. The result was a killer gone free and an innocent cop's life ruined. With 488 pieces of evidence pointing directly to O.J. and not one piece pointing anywhere else, the race card came out. The ironic thing about that was that O.J. wasn't even black. He was a white guy in a black suit. He married white, he hung out with mostly white (Steve Garvey, Bruce Jenner, etc), lived in an all-white neighborhood. It would take way too much space to give all the examples about the O.J. case here, but e-mail me and I'll tell you more. I have studied the record and read every book on the subject. I'll just share one of my favorites: Before the jury walk through of O.J.'s house, O.J. had a collage of pictures on his landing that showed him with all of his white friends. Cochran had them taken down and replaced by pictures of all black people!

Basically, the definition of the race card is when all the evidence points toward a black person, scream "racism!"

An example of opposite race- card playing was when a restaurant owner in Boston killed his wife, he blamed it on blacks. It only worked for about two minutes though - long enough to make the headlines for a day.

The race card makes up for laziness...that's why you won't see whites use the race card. A good indication of a racist like veggie is when someone looks at a list of QB's and the first thing they type is that the first black QB is at #19. Whats up with that FOOL, FOOL, FOOL. It's also a lack of education.

This has never been about race and should not even be mentioned.

When black folks complain about white folks runnin over them, white folks go to hollarin bout us pulling out a race card. When I tell it like it is on here, all kind of white folks start tellin me I am using my race card. It is just something they use so that they can be more racist.
