Football cleats? Low cut or Mid? What is the best cleat?

such as for a LB, or a TE?

While it's true that this is a personal choice...
my advice - for what little it's worth - unless you are a pro athlete getting paid to wear someone's crappy "mid" cleat...
go with the standard.

High school is a time of development and growth.
Your ankles need the ability to endure the stress you place on them while you practice and play.

Learn how to loosen your ankles as well as stretch them out.

ask your coach.or a sporting good store like play it again sports.

In my opinion, you should purchase mid-cuts. I would help protect your ankles more.

I would say Mid, but it is also a personal preference

Here are my arguments in favor of each

Low- Less weight, more flexibility in the ankles, lower price, cooler in the summer

Mid- Ankle support for injury prevention, ankle support needed to dig in and thrust, protection for the ankles against scrapes of other cleats, warmer in the cold

Given that you are playing linebacker or tight end, I would say the higher cleats are more appropriate. You will either be blocking or shedding blocks which requires you to dig in and hold your ground. Having more ankle support gives you a better base. Also playing close to the line puts you in tight quarters where you are more likely to step on a foot and roll the ankle or be stepped on and scraped on the ankle. I had that happen once and it was painful and bloody

If you told me you were playing wideout, DB or kicking I would go with the low shoes

Hope this helps

Mid cut. They give you the best support as for making sharp cuts. You don t want to roll an ankle and be injured. Get some mid-cut cleats. They really help!

Low cut so your ankle could get the most bend out of each step. If you were to get cleats mid way, the would burn up your foot.
