MOLDED or DETACHABLE cleats?

i need new cleats for this football season, is there a big differance in molded and detachable cleats? if so which is better, and for what?

absolutely get detachable, those are simply better no matter what people say. They wont come unscrewed either unless you are retarded and dont know how to secure them. The most effective way is to put slighty longer ones in the front because it gives you a better push. Also if your league allows it go with steel tip

The key determinant is the weather and pitch conditions that will exist during match play. Detachable cleats are best on soft fields or during rainy / wet conditions where molded cleats are better on hard fields.

Consider, also, that detachable cleats can be used on hard fields, but molded cleats are not very effective on wet or very soft fields.

If you are playing soccer, I have no idea. But if you mean football (as in American football) go detachable. Especially if you live in the north. Practice and games on hard fields tear cleats up and make em useless. It will also allow you to keep the cleats longer.

Go with molded. Reason: detachable may come unscrewed or whatever, causing injury. Plus, i would say molded get better traction.

I always go with detachable. Yes they might cost a little extra but it is worth it. They usually come with different lengths you can take on and off, like 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch...and so on. But this works to your advantage because you can change them according to the condition of the field. Like if the field is muddy and slippery, you put the longer ones on for more traction and a deeper grab.

Hope it helps.

What the other person said, "they can become unscrewed". They won't if you put the on right and tighten them enough. They give you a tool to do this.

I always used molded... I just don't feel any difference when I'm out there on the field... they're both the same if you ask me...

FIRST, and most importanly, it depends on league rules.

In Germany...for "American football"...
which is where your question is found....
molded plastic bottom is THE ONLY cleat to be worn.

The reason is, detachable wear down too quickly and the athlete is usually very slow in replacing them.
This makes the worn cleat exceedingly dangerous.

However, with 5 years of college football. I owned several pairs of cleats...the detachable were excellent for matching the cleat with the depth and grade of the turf I was playing on.

A molded platic bottom, or soccer styled cleat, is right for soccer fields (like in Europe) that are flat...the turf is cut very tight, and the soil is very dry. Long detachables make your feet sore from running with hard cuts and plants...

Depending on your age, your league rules, and the inherent wealth of the league to accomodate turf styles...your first - best - resource is your coach.

Coach knows the best shoe, the best price, and the best make.

Detachable they are inexpensive to replace

Detachable are better than molded although I hear the new Under Armour ones are really good in both models.

get detachable so you can always keep them fresh when they wear down. with molded, u can't replace them.

no-brain-er---detachable---replace worn cleats---better traction---look at what everyone in college and NFL are wearing.
