Which do you prefer molded cleats or detachable cleats for football...?

ok you see the cleats i own currently are molded cleats called "Adidas Grid Iron 3/4 MD Men's Molded Football Cleats" and they have served me somewhat well for the past season, but now it is a new season and i have found that i slip when i make a sharp cut or turn, so i was wondering how long do molded cleats last and how can i tell if they are too worn out....because i am not sure if it is the cleats or if it is just me....my friends have told me i should go get detachable, but what do you think...?

Detachable are nice for grass because if they get worn down you can just replace the the spikes. With molded cleats if they get worn down you have to get brand new cleats. You probably need new cleats after a whole season using molded ones, so I would suggest getting detachable cleats so you just need to buy spikes next season. Molded cleats are good for a season, detachable cleats are good for 2 at least.

Easy, detachable. The most obvious advantage of detachable cleats is that you can replace them if they get worn. But the biggest advantage detachable cleats have over molded cleats is that you can change out the spikes to better fit the type of field you will be playing on; short spikes are better dry/grassy fields, and longer spikes are better for wet/muddy fields. But be careful, some leagues have very strict rules regarding the maximum length of spikes for safety reasons. Some leagues dont allow detachable cleats at all (mostly little leagues). You dont see molded cleats much after little league...and once your in college, nobody uses molded cleats. Bottom line, detachable is better, but make sure you know the rules in your league.

I would prefer detachable because if the things broke you can buy more of them and they are will cheat.

Molded, they wont break off in the middle of a defensive stand or final minute offensive drive.

molded cleats once they have served thier usefulness they wear out and the entire shoe has to be replaced, however detachable cleats when they wear out the cleat itself can be replaced not the entire shoes

as an offensive lineman i prefer the molded. i have had removable before and when i was pulling on a screen one time a spike got stuck in the ground and pulled out.

It doesnt matter if I have some cleats on my feet im busting some @ss

either one is good

In my 5 years of playing football, i can honestly say that there isn't a big difference between the two. Molded are your best bet because they are usually less expensive and can go through the ware and tear of such events such as football camp. If you wear them out, go get some new ones for as low as $30. With detachable cleats you have to go through the hassle of remembering the key to tighten them, and that if you have to take them off you have to remember where your put them.

I had detatchable ones when I was in school, and I got almost three seasons out of the shoes. Also, you can get different size cleats, like if you have to play in snow, on turf, etc.

it all depends on what you are playing on. Detachables are great for grass which is what you will most likely be playing. And if you are superstitious player. ie, you need the same stuff all the time, detachables are great. you can just change out the cleats with new ones. and you can also get different length cleats depending on what conditions you are playing in. be careful with your length however. Some officials will not allow certain lengths. As far as the slipping goes i would say your footwork has alot to do with it. you can make a good cut on wet grass with basketball shoes if you have good footwork. try not to worry about your cleats when it comes to game time. after all shoes dont make you jump higher or run faster its your training.

You NEED changeable spikes. Why, depending on the surface and conditions of the surface, you need to be able to change the depth of the spike. IE: if its wet grass you need longer spikes on dry you need shorter so if you take a hit in the legs you don't tear up you ligaments. Not only is this a safety issue, its basic football knowledge. Footing is one of the most important issues in football. Without it, the most talented player in football, becomes worthless.
Another issue is, molded cleats (if your not talking about molded spikes), are much too heavy to wear, they will cause you to fatigue much faster, due to there heavier weight. The only time we even thought of wearing them, was in one game coming up, that was in a mud bath, no grass, just mud due to heavy rains. But after reflection, we decided as a team to wear long spikes because they were lighter. We won 31-3, and they had molded cleats! We beat them badly, because we were much quicker!

i personally use molded cleats on my highschool team

I don't believe you even have this question. Detachables which may or may not be easy, seem less efficient. With detachables there is always a chance that they will "detach" during a play. With molded, they may need to be replaced every season, but you will play with an assurance the spikes won't come off halfway to the in zone. Besides I can bet that after a season of skanky jock feet in them shoes, you want to replace them after a season anyway.
