| When at the combine camps, why aren鈥檛 the prospective employees tested in full pro football gear? |

Other than the 40 yd dash and the vertical leap and I would imagine some kind of strength/endurance test(s), I don鈥檛 know what kind of testing is done at the pro football combine camps. |

also, the combine is mainly for seeing their pure athleticism. They can look at game tape to see how they perform on the field. They just want to get measurables to see what they are working with (as it goes, you can't teach speed -----however they won't take a guy totally devoid of fundamentals, but if he's a little raw it's ok). |

Equipment could vary from the camp to the field. It could also vary from team to another. This way everyone is on the same playing field... no pun intended. they do agility tests also. i don't know if there is an official policy reason for doing it this way, but it's probably a lot easier to observe form and technique without a lot of bulky pads in the way. they do a lot of computer analysis, and it's easier to track the movements of the body without pads. this way you can tell if certain question areas are truly problems as a lack of skill, or maybe just a form issue |
