YOu can try washing it, but most theres a chance it wont work and you might not want to take that chance because it could mess up the grip. If it has been smelling for a long time i think its impossible. Wash them... I usually hand wash them because the washing machine doesnt get all the smell out. Inside out in the wash. Spray with "spray and wash" Never use any kind of freshener or scent, my friend tried that and he still hasn't got the stench out in 2 years.
Buy shoe fogger and spray em.
