All NFL helmets are originally green. The helmets get painted the color of the team they represent. There was a glitch in the paint sprayer because some stoner on the night shift dropped a 50 cent piece in the machine. This cause several defective helmets with mysterious green dots. They gave these helmets to the quarterbacks to punish them for future interceptions they will throw.
