Shed Blockers?

Im a DT, im 6'2", 275 lbs. I need tips on how to shed blockers and get past them, i take advantage of my long arms and knock down passes but i need to blow past the offense and get a RB or QB. I know the rip, swim, and club, anything else?

Do you know how to use your hips to defeat the double team?

here are primary block breakers that you haven't discussed.

Slap and swim is where you should be...if you just swim, you're standing up too high and therein lies your problem.

Push.
reach up and strike with an open hand just under his arm as it comes up to block you...then continue with a push.

Push-pull.
use the hand thats NOT on the ground, reach across the blockers face and grab the lower, outside plate of his shoulder pads and push with your forearm until he gives, then pull yourself past him.

Press up.
Come up, under the blocker with your fists - thumbs up -
punch under the breast plate of his shoulder pads -
press up and backwards (driving his shoulderpads into his throat) DRIVE him anywhere you wish.

NOW - a true shed...against a blocking back, crack back, or pulling guard...

your inside arm should be V-shaped.
Fist out front,
elbow pointing down.
like you are holding a shield.

This absorbs the impact of the blocker - you use the whole arm to push him the direction he wished to go.

Always keep your outside leg and arm free.

Good luck

You are really asking a lot of questions, I'm sure your D-line coach goes over a lot of this stuff in indi time. If you have long arms and can work on shooting them in to the chest of the defender and maintaing that lock out you will be solid. Also note their footwork, try to keep their toes parallel to you as it gives them less stability, thes will help you drive and shed blocks. Of course a lot of this depends on what type of front you are running, if you are in a 3 tech and running a two gap, you don't need to be blowing past the offense.

Reggie White's "hump" : White used the right side of his body to lean into the tackle for an outside rush. Then, when he gets the lineman moving to the outside, White clubs the guy away with his right arm to get an inside rush.
