Is jim kelly the most underated qb in nfl history?

4 super bowls,pro bowls 5 times,hall of famer.never gets any respect

I would have to agree. His accomplishments were exceptional but history is often unkind if you don't win the big one. He was certainly one of the best of his era.

i would say so yes because of his super bowls poor guy

well i would have a clue, sometimes those critics go outta hand

Umm did you watch those 4 Super Bowls? Talking Proud? lol
My dad is bent over laughing right now

He does have a tendancy to lose when the game really counts.

Plus I mean, c'mon, he was a Bill

He was an amazing QB. One of the most concussed QB's of all time too. I said if before, I'll say it again. I bet he would have given his left nut for Gary Anderson.

I wouldn't say underrated but it was the guys around Jim Kelly who and what made him so great. I am also a huge Bills fan. That team of the late 80's and early 90's of the Buffalo Bills was unbelievable. You got a load of future hall of famers if they aren't there already. Marv Levy, Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, Steve Tasker (Deserves it and I believe he'll make it), Kent Hull, Darryl Talley, Cornelius Bennett, Shane Conlan, Fred Smerlas, Mark Kelso, Nate Odomes and maybe even some more that I forgot to mention. Oh and James Lofton is in there. He was amazing. Yes this team was probably the most fun to watch ever in my opinion

I think John Cena is underrated

People talk about how weak the NFC is compared to the AFC today, or how much better the AL is better than the NL in baseball, or how the West is so much better than the East in the NBA... But that was nothing compared to how weak the AFC was from the mid 80's to past the mid 90's... The NFC won 13 Super Bowls in a row. Usually a blowout, and after facing superior competition in the NFC playoffs...

It was during this period that the Bills had their run. Three of their losses were blowouts, and the one that wasn't they lost to a 2nd string quarterback handing it off to an over the hill RB playing keepaway. If they were in the NFC they would have had zero Superbowl appearances. Playing 12 games in the NFC every year they might have even struggled to get to 9 wins (ball control & defense was the NFC mantra those days)...

The Bills weren't terrible, they were just a good (not great) team where good was good enough for the AFC, and it took a lot of players (not just Kelly) to get them to good.

When I think of underrated QB's, I wasn't around way back then, but the most underrated one would have to be someone who played back before they even had Super Bowls (and before rules like 'in the grasp' protected the modern QBs today)...

He never won the big one. And he had some bad Super Bowl performances as well. I think Dan Marino and Warren Moon are more underrated. They didn't have the supporting casts, offensively and defensively, that Kelly had.

Archie Manning (Peyton & Eli's dad) is also very underrated. He played on some terrible teams in New Orleans, but was an incredible player.

he is one of them like fran tarkenton
