Awful Draft Selections, Without Gruden's input the Raiders would of had the most dismal draft since 1990 than any other team in the league. It's still awful overall. Then there's the fueding with the players,coaches, the league..the terrible selections such as head coach Joe Bugel or QB Kerry Collins. First round picks on guys like Sebastian, Dudley, Fabian and Nnamdi just to mention a few...or how about those two 1st round offensive lineman in the 80's that never even played a down ol' Bob & John... brilliant.

Everybody says what a brilliant football mind Al Davis has, but i've got him on hours of video over the years and he's not so brillant. Infact, he's a little bit Howard Hughes latter stages in my opinion. Just recently he claimed on video that 8-teams make the playoffs and pronounce Petrino's first name wrong AFTER HE OFFERED HIM THE RAIDERS HEADCOACHING JOB! Petrino turned it down like a huge number of others have over the years. Now we got an Uncle Tom..Art Shell couldn't

Careful sparky! Don't be hating Art Shell. Art is a class act. He was fired from the Raiders too early and has never been given another chance to coach. I don't blame the guy for taking the job. He just wants to get back into the game. Will he do a good job, probably not. But that won't be all his fault. Bill Parcells could not turn this ship around this year.

Al Davis is a great and terrible owner all at once. When you talk to the players most of them love him. I have heard numerous interviews with former players who talk about him.

Davis' problem is he still wants to play old school football with a little finesse. He thinks by bringing every tough has-been and malcontent onto his team they will bond and become a group of rough bruisers.

Davis is stubborn and doesn't seem to think clearly. He needs to hand over the football operations to someone else. He is the man to blame because he does the hiring and firing.

You may not have noticed but he owns the team.

i do like art shell though, he took the raiders to the playoffs 2 or 3 times before davis fired him after one bad season. i always thought he should have gotten another shot. plus, shell was fired after the '92 season, a coaching bloodbath where 7 coaches got fired when the league had 28 teams. the chiefs had him as an ol coach in 95, and i wish hey would have kept him, if nothing else so they could promote him to oc so i wouldn't have had to watch jimmy raye put together one of the nfl's worst designed offences. i wish shell got a better job this time around too. you're right, the raiders will never win with davis calling the shots, which as a chiefs fan is the way i like it.
