i go to the university of florida... and there are quite a few football players in my classes (including some very well known ones)... and if they had the same requirements as us regular students to get in, they wouldnt be here!

UF is really hard to get into, and of the players that are in my classes... only maybe 2 would have been accepted.

but hey, it doesnt matter, so lets not worry about that!

Just watch Ivy League games and you will find out.

it would be played by a bunch of below average players.i know some players keep their GPA up,but regular students do not have to endure 3-4 hrs of practice,film watching ,and meetings 5 days a week after classes as do the student athletes

If you are old enough. Try and remember what college football looked like before any affirmative action laws were passed.

A guy on here mentioned that athletes have to balance football practice and schoolwork. That's tough. I have a hard time keeping myself organized as it is.

The athletes do have certain guidelines that they have to meet. You can't be failing a class, yet still play on weekends. A regular student can be failing a class, yet not recieve any real punishment. To an athlete, not being able to compete in games is punishment. Now, the athletes do have help; tutors, study halls, etc. are involved all the time. Any help would be provided by the Athletic Department.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that not all athletes are dumb jocks, even though some do make it through.

We'd revert back to the late 1800's and watch 130# players from Harvard and Yale put up final final scores of 6-3 after 3 hours.

The SEC would have to disband.

Obviously, the quality of the game would suffer. However, it would still be fun to watch.

Hey Stonewall - I am always amazed at the quality of play by Vanderbilt athletes. I remember the days when they used to call out the player's name, position and major. I loved it when Vanderbilt players were called out because it sounded so different when you heard someone's name, starting at left guard and majoring in electrical engineering. Last I heard Vanderbilt was in the SEC. When it comes to academics I don't think y'all have that good of a school in the Big-12 to compete with Vanderbilt do you? :o)
