Are the University of Miami players a bunch of thugs?

I think so.That brawl definetely supports my opinion.Lary Coker has no control over the team. But still those players should know what is right or wrong. You should definately be able to tell right from wrong at age 19 and over. Those players in that brawl should be suspended this season and a few games of nest season.A couple should be kicked of the team.

"Totally blown out of proportion by sum of u guys."what are you taliking about. And acyually if I see my teamate fighting with another guy from the other team then what I do is try to break it up.Think about it...If all the players that joined in had tried to break it up instead of joining in then would this have been so big?

If it would qualify an "assault" if on the streets, it should qualify as "assault" on the field.

There are instances of hockey players being prosecuted for cheap-shot attacks that severely injured an opponent.

Over-reaction to Miami's success of the 80's and 90's ??

XCome on ratboy, you can do better than that. Did you defend us Sooners when Switzer's team in the mid 80's got busted for a player shooting another? Seems to me we got called called every name in the book, and every crime or misdemeanor ever done by a Sooner player was front-page news for 6 months? We took the heat, fired the best-loved coach in OU history, and moved on.

Will Miami handle this situation? or slap a few players' wrists?

Yes, The U is a bunch of thugz.

both teams were thugs

I agree...that was the most absurd thing I have ever seen. Coker needs to be (at least) given a severe rebuke....or he needs to be cut loose.

I am sure I will see this crap on ESPN Classic later this week....sheesh...

GO HORNS

Yes, but what do you expect from Miami or the state of Florida in general? Florida is a cesspool of crime and corruption.

Nice question. You'll flush out all the idiot UM haters with this one.

In reality, only a minority of the players deserve to be punished. The rest should be commended for defending their teammates from attack.

Most people do not understand the situation, they see a bit of film on ESPN and they suddenly think they know what's going on. Most of the kids who were fighting went to local area high schools, they played against each other in school and in Pop Warner leagues. Again, most people don't understand how high school football works in Miami. People bring guns to games. the city has to move games away from some schools' home fields because the threat of drive by shootings and other violent gang retaliation behaviors are likely. Fast forward a year or two, these kids who HATE each other are suddenly standing on the same field together. I don't know who started the attack, but this was more than jsuy two college football teams fighting, this was a gang war rumble played out on a football field. Maybe these kids didn't belong on the field in the first place, bot nobody should be ignorant enough to believe that only a few schools will ignore a kid's history if he can run a 4.2 40.

But so many people are jealous and fed up with Miami's incredible run of success throughout the 80's and 90's that the moment a crack appears, they fall all over themselves piling on the phony outrage, calling for everything from the coach's head on a platter to the complete dismantling of the entire football program.

They were wrong 20 years ago and they're wrong now.

.

ya
i hope they all get suspended for the season

yea the u started recruting people from other hick states now they don't know how to act in a live place like miami.. but yeah it was horriable and disgusting..........come on u........former players from the u now in the nfl should go and talk , or beat some sense into them...........

I couldn't be happier about the latest classless disgrace straight out of Thug U.... just proves these goons are third-rate criminals and shouldn't even be in any higher education institution.

coker's got no control and if he doesn't supsend those thugs for more than one game, it just goes to show that UM doesn't take these things seriously.

just another bump in their awful season.... unranked and showing their true colors. it's awesome. Go Gators!

There's been a culture of thuggery around that school for a long time. Look at the comments Lamar Thomas made while doing commentary for the game. Thomas is a former 'Canes player, and was pretty much sitting there during the brawl going, "Yeah, you don't do that in our house," and generally condoning the behavior of the Miami players. Coker recruited Willie Williams a couple of years ago, and that guy had a rap sheet a mile long. Let's not forget former 'Canes like Michael Irvin and Jamal Lewis either. Firing Coker would be a start, but I'm wondering if a couple of years without football wouldn't change the mindset of the powers that be and the players who attend the U.

R U Serious? suspend hem for a season? big deal u act as if u never been in a fight b4 u little panzy sure suspend them a game or 2 but dont act as if they went into the stands to beat up innocent spectators. Football is a violent sport and sometimes these things happen. If u see some of ur teammates getting beat up r u jus goin to stand there and watch? Totally blown out of proportion by sum of u guys.
