| In football, during Punting or Kickoff, what players (and how many) get to go on the field? |
|
Are ALL the players on the field "special team" members? Or is it just the punter/kicker, snapper to punter, and kick/punt returner the only special team players? Are there players from the offensive and defensive unit on the kicking and returning side? |

There are at all times 11 men on the field for each team, else there is a penalty. On kick off and punt returns you always want people with good hands and folks that can block pretty well. You'll often see receivers, running backs, or men from the secondary in the back field to return a kick off or punt, while you'll see players with a good mix of size and speed such as tight ends or linebackers up front to block. Your punt team is all about blocking, so in addition to the punter and long snapper you'll have your offensive line and tight ends and linebackers to block. Your kick off team is generally made up of positions similar to those listed above that have a good mix of power and speed. |

there are 11. theres always 11. and it depends on high school football or the NFL. in high school lots of players have to play many positions but in the NFL theres specific ppl special teams but most of the time on kick off its the defensive ppl that play. and in kickoff return its the offensive ppl. like running backs and receivers are in the back field. ther is 11 just like there is when the defense and offense are on the field. The players that are on the field are on the special teams unit. anad it is mad of up various players, both offensive and defensive wether they are kicking off or returning the kick. |
