| I need your vote/opinions regarding NFL touchdowns.? |

It appears that year by year more and more bogus and borderline touchdowns are being rewarded in the NFL. |

A. if the ball breaks the plane, it's good enough for me. if there is any question, that is why there is a review...and 9 times out of 10, the review is clear enough to see if it is valid or not. |

That rule is fine the way it is. A. Yes what the nfl needs to do in insert a micro chip that way they can tell when a ball crosses the goal line I believe that the entire "Ball" not just the nose, should cross the line of the endzone. But it does come in handy if the TD could mean the win or loss of a game and it was the team that you like that the nose just broke the plain. You'd be jumping around in your living room going " oh man that's definately a Touch down!" ( If, it was your team that is) I've been wathcing the NFL for well over 30 years and as far as I'm concerned it's just as thrilling for me to see a guy stick the nose of the ball over and break the plane as it is watching him run/walk/flip or whatever his way into the end zone. I playe dthe sport for 13 years as a center and trust me...you don't care how your team scores as long as it scores at all! It makes sense this way for this reason: I can't agree. I played high school ball in the 70's and it was an old rule then. It's been that way forever. I watch a lot of football myself, and I don't recall any controversial calls involving this or players or coaches complaining about this. Perhaps you could give some specific instances where a team was robbed and everyone was upset. There weren't that many or they just don't remember them? People remember what they want to, and usually that is the best of times. That is why we talk about "the good old days". Want to talk about CHILD LABOR from those days? I'd say this time is better now that child labor is illegal and we don't have kids crawling into small spots that the adults can't get into. Just one example of remembering different then the truth. Anyway I'm fine with the ball has to break the line. I don't think the player should have to, although it would make it harder when you are doing the goal-line stance thing. Anyway the current rule is fair since it applies to all teams. So back to the point. I have a bigger issue with a guy catching a ball in the endzone and dropping it and yet it is a TD. I think they should have to ESTABLISH POSSESSION. Yeah they are supposed to have to but I've seen players catch it have a TD called and the guy dropped it in about a second. I'd say a three count should be required at least, to establish the guy has control/possession. A. Yes. It matters where the ball ends up. If the ball is in the endzone, it should be a touchdown without a doubt. And if there is a doubt, that's what the reviews and challenges are for. The rule is fine the way it is. The ball only needs to break the plane of the goal line. So the nose of the ball touching any part of the goal line is a touchdown. It's the same for a first down.....nothing in that regards needs to be changed. |
