When you are looking at Draft Picks. Do you look at the team they are coming from or the Player.?

I can not belive someone would not like a top pick just because of the team he comes from.. lol FOOLISH

I keep up with all the Seminoles in the draft since that's my college team, but that's just for fun. Where an athlete played college ball can tell you a lot about the strength of competition they faced during their career, but if a player doesn't play for the big time school, it doesn't make them bad. One of many great examples: Jerry Rice played for Mississippi Valley State in college.

the player and how well they have bplayed with their past teams

I look at the team they are going to and see if it was a smart pick.

i look at the whole picture. take the case for russel who just went number one. first off many give him lots of love because he played and beat up on notre dame...this to me isn't sayiing much because ND had a terrible schedule and didn't play anyone (point is i can't give russel credit for beating up on a bad ND team.) second i'll look at the league be played in. yes a very strong sec FOR RUN DEFENSE AND VERY GOOD AT THE OFFENSIVE GROUND GAME..that league is known for those two..HOWEVER, and this is a big however, the sec isn't known for PASSING NOR IS IT KNOWN FOR HAVING SOLID COVER CORNERS. point being...russell DIDN'T PLAY ENOUGH AGAINSTS TOP NOTCH CORNERS FOR ME TO GO OUT AND TAKE HIM NUMBER ONE.

now i look at russells size and say he's got all the tools of a guy who would be hard to bring down..but lets face it in todays nfl players have to be able to move..and i'm not so sure russel can do that.

so for me i look at just about everything. the league the guy came from..the teams he played against..the teams he had huge games agasint and made his name against...then i look at the player and the system he played in (LSU WAS THE ONLY REAL PASSING TEAM IN THAT LEAGUE).

on a side note i think the raiders were foolish for taking russel over calivn. pairing johnson up with moss and picking up a qb with the second pick is what the raiders should have done. there's been waaaaaaaay to many qb's of russels type to come in the league and basically do nothing. only two with his sizes to do anything half decent have been, culpepper and mcnabb. and being as pepper is looking each day like he'd done...i wouldn't say the future looks to bright for russel.

if they'd have taken johnson instead..and even if they didn't take a qb with a later pick..the raiders would still have free agents NEXT YEAR..lining up to sign with them..because they'd want to be throwing to moss and johson.

you get players who can help you now.

not tomorrow. because in the NFL tomorrow isn't a guarentee.
