Racism works both ways. You're on the other end of the racist spectrum. Not good.

Probably because a successful athlete of any race is usually rich, good-looking, smart, and fit. With all these things going for him he will meet many eligible women - many of whom are white.

(I must also say that some of these answers are way off). It is still unfashionable for a white person to have too much of a tan. There is no upper-class dignity to a white person with a wicked tan. Some of the most tanned people are farmers, construction workers, roofers, labourers, gardeners, lands keepers, etc, hardly upper class professions. And the young white girls sporting the Paris Hilton style fake tan, hair, makeup, and skanky clothes are repulsive, not classy. And girl with a subtle and natural tan is nice though.

Because many black people seem to think that lighter colored skin is better or more desirable - and you can't get any lighter colored skin than a white person. The women with dark skin tend to be shunned in black communities, even if they're beautiful, just because of their skin tone.

It may appear to be racist, but it's really more of a cultural artifact inherited from African origins. It's still the case in much of Africa that lighter skinned women are more desirable. The idea is that the lighter skinned woman appears to be wealthier since she's not out in the fields working, and the sun's not making her skin dark. So it really is a status symbol, of sorts.

It's very similar to Medieval Europe where women with creamy white skin were favored over the tanned skin of peasant women working the fields.

And even now it's the opposite amongst the European descended people but for similar reasons: tanned skin is preferred since white skin means you're working in an office all day. Tanned skin means you have money - so instead of working, the woman can be lying on a beach somewhere getting a tan.

Even tho' this is a football question, it really belongs in sociology.

Because they are crazy. They forget where they come from and get these white women. I was just discussing this issue with my girl and she thinks its because they dont want to deal with black women and think they look better with white women. I also think that it is because white women are more submissive to black men, where as a black women will stand on her own two feet and make the black man honor her.

Who can afford to sit close enough to the court or the field for players to notice them?

Who can afford to stay at the 5-star hotels that the players stay at?

Who lives in the private, gated communities that the players live in?

And finally, in a world where one's status is determined by the price of the acquisition, who would hold more value? A girl from back home or the jet-setter who just flew in from London?

You're not asking the right question. It's not why are "white" women the prime goal, it's why are "rich" women the prime goal. And for reasons that don't bear going into here, most of the women who can afford to get courtside seats, or third base box seats just above the dugout, or right on the 50 yard line at field level are rich...thus, they become just another jewel in the pro athlete's bling case, another trophy like the car and the iced-out chain and the Florida Keys mansion.
