lift. for tackling just make sure you get low. I am 14 and im not that big but I played linebacker because I was one of the best tacklers on the team. When I tackled I got real low (knee level) and half the time I didnt even wrap because they cant do anything when you take out their knees. But if you have a kid that knows how to jump over you ur in trouble but the only kid to do that to me was this kid on my team in a tackling drill. It has never happened in a game. For catching, get the cutters gloves. They are $50 but they are worth it. they work in the rain and when they lose tackiness just hand wash them with cold water. I also played receiver and I had really bad butterfingers. I put these gloves on and I havent dropped a ball. The only time I didnt catch a ball was when my quarterback threw a bad throw. |

With catching ; practice makes perfect. Just do it over and over and over. Throw it up in the air, play catch with someone...it is just consistency and constant effort. With tacking ; keep your head up, go for the waist, wrap, and drive with your hips and legs. try lifting some weights If your small wrap them up by the legs and do not let go. Not everyone can put a hit on like Roy Williams. On catching, have a friend cover you not the ball {have him go as far as put a hand inf your face} when you having a catch or playing around in your back yard. The trick to catching is concentration and repetition. Try trowing a tennis ball with a friend. I will help you develop soft hands. Also, try taking a couple of footballs and place a piece of masking tape at the tips of each ball. Write a different number on each piece of tape. |
