I am in the offseason with my team on Franchise Mode. The very first step in the schedule during the offseason is player retirements.

Is there anyway I can prevent a player from retiring from my team? Such as offering him more money or something like that? If not what is the purpose of the Player Retirement screen?

I have noticed sometimes when you advance through player retiremens it says certain players recieved new roles. What does that mean? How can I do that?

Any help is much appreciated.

there is nothing to do to prevent a player from retiring unless you save it just before the offseason and keep loading it until he does retire. Players then receive roles to fill the void left by the retired players.

You can't prevent a retirement. As to the purpose of the screen it is so you can see who is retiring, both from your team and the other screens.
