| Will the NFL change league rules? |

To avoid the gay-as$ time-out being called prior to a snap but actually after the kick on FG tries? |
|
Yes, they will. They are already working on it. Takes effect next year. They will be allowed to call time out before the snap, but not after. |

I doubt they will , although I'd like to see it changed somehow~! the league will change it. They shouldn't change the rules. I think it's great. You better be prepared for it. No because it is strategic for the game. They have better things to worry about like catching the juice heads and criminals to worry about a minor detail like this. I think they will. Especially because a challenge flag can be laying on the field before the ball is snapped for the next play and if the refs dont see it in time, its null and void. according to an espn report about 3 weeks ago, espn's reporter has been told by a rules committee member that they plan on looking into this situation during the off season. I think they should. Strategy? This isn't a fricking chess game. It's football. PLAY THE FRICKING GAME! There are a bunch of people who hate that , especially the kickers. Sometimes it sucks for the team that called the timeout if the kick is no good. but it helps the kickin team and gives them another chance. Thsi rule will be changed because it was not designed to be used to ice kickers and everybody is getting tired of it.The rule is being used to do something it wasnt intended for. I agree with Anthony and Johan, the teams should already be prepared for that one. I don't mind the time out before the kick, but the league does need to make a rule regarding it. Make it something like the opposing team can only call a time out up to 1 second after the kicker sets or before the placeholder reaches his arm to accept the snap. That crap about calling a time out a half second before the ball is snapped has to go. No, but that is also partially the kicking teams fault. I mean really if we change it what do we do about the kicking team? Do we set up a rule on the time out can be called until X time is left on the play clock? Ok fine that thought is solved. Now we have ANOTHER problem. Do we say the kicking team can't start the play until X time is left on the play clock? Face it this "gay-as$" time out thing is part of the game. It has been going on FOR YEARS. The only reason it is suddenly getting attention is that now they are using it more often and it is WORKING. Think it started this year? Remember the playoffs years back, I'm thinking it was the year the Titans went to the Superbowl so like 2001. Titans were going for the winning FG against the Steelers. Bill Cowher called the time-out at the last second. Titans kicker, thinking Nedney, still kicked it not knowing that the time-out had been called. It was good and the fireworks were set off. The refs said it didn't count and that Cowher had called the time-out. Then the field-goal failed, but do to a good acting job the kicker got the refs to call a running into the kicker penalty. I think it should be allowed, where you can call a time out before they kick it, but you're right, to be able to go up to a ref and tell them before they are lined up, that you want to call a time out right before it is snapped is stupid. I certainly hope so. this rules no worse then a team taking a knee the final 2 minutes of a football game. It's not as bad in th NFL as it is in college... |
