How do you feel about this rule change in college football this season ?

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=...

Too many kickers are putting the ball beyond the end line from the 35, so this gives more chance for a return and a better chance for teams to start beyond their 20. I also like geting rid of the "starting the clock" crap after a change of possession.

Now, if they could only stop I-A teams from playing lower division teams and get a playoff system in, it would be perfect.

that to much reading
sorry

Excellent idea.

Doesn't bother me too much. It gives teams a better chance at starting out past the 20. That should be worth a few extra injuries. What I'd love to see change is a team scores, commercials, then the kickoff for a touchback, followed by more commercials!

I think that the rescinding of the recent changes in timekeeping will be more important overall.
But I can see some strategies that will need reworking under the new kickoff position. I expect to see a few more reverses and other 'trick'-type plays on kickoff returns, and different blocking schemes over the course of the season.
The biggest difficulty I see will be the onside kicking game. What was a seldom-used tactic will be used even less because of the increased risk involved. Where a missed onside opportunity used to be recovered around midfield; if the receiving team fields it now (around the 45 yard line), one first down will put the stronger kickers in field goal range. In other words, a strategic move will turn into a desperation move.

I don't really buy into the more injuries thing. If they get that many more maybe they need better players. Come on they don't have the injury on kickoff issue in the NFL and they can kick from the 30. Really I think it was more an excuse to WHINE. Actually a few of the changes are GOOD and needed to be done. Maybe they will eventually get the game right and consider fixing the scheduling and start a playoff system.
