Patriots "running up the score"?

I'm going to start this off with this:
I'm a Dolphins fan.........and I haven't said one bad thing about the Pats running up the score.

My question is this:

Imagine this situation...The Pats are beating the Jets by 35 with 10 minutes to go in the game.
Brady drops back to pass....Stallworth is going deep
Vilma (who has been faking injury for the sake of this story) hits ol' Tom in the knee and he tears his ACL
.....Tom Brady is done for the season.

Now, get into the heads of all these Patriot fans who are so adamantly defending their team "running up the score"

are they still ok with Tom Brady and company being in the game when they're up by 35 in the fourth quarter?

---------

there's a surprise....the point was lost on some people....

whole heartedly agreed, and I've tried to make this point several times. This whole "eff you" attitude the Pats have makes zero sense in my head.... uhh.. yeah, we've won 3 super bowls as of late, and we don't get any respect! We're being called the best team ever assembled, and we don't get any respect! We're getting predictions to go 19-0, and we don't get any respect! It's complete foolishness by their players and coaches, and I really fully expect something like your scenario to happen. There are tons of hot-headed players in the NFL, and it is easy to imagine one of them taking a cheap shot on Brady (or Moss) when they're losing big and are frustrated.

But to answer your question, all the Pats fans are going to answer this, "Who cares? Carrel has the potential to lead this team to the Super Bowl. And we'll still run up the score. We won't miss Brady!" (even though they just answered a question saying that Brady is the best qb ever to play the game and most irreplacable player on any roster in the NFL).

Howdy "a symbol formerly known as burnt sienna"

I've always hated running up the score. I do it in Madden but it has no place in real life. It shows what poorly dressed jerk Belhick is.

He's good and bad. Like Bobby Knight

Wow. I missed the point didn't i. As for BRay being in the game? I'm no Pats fan but if i were i still wouldn't like it.

this is what I've been trying to say!!

the patsie fans are cool with it now, but just wait till something tragic happens...they'll be the first ones to say "i knew they should have pulled him!"

double standards...the pats and their fans are full of em.

I hate the Patriots but the best way to keep the opposing team from running up the score is play some defense. The Chiefs have a great defense but every time defense got a turnover, Campbell gave it right back. That was a clear case of one guy losing a game.

The most complete team they're going to play this year happens to be the Colts. It's hard to accuse any team of playing a soft schedule in the NFL, but the opposition to the Patriots have been less than stellar. We'll see what happens this weekend.

If they are idiots...yes!
If they have half a brain...no!
I guess we know which category most of them fall in.

Lets see them do it to the Colts!!!

They will be done if this happens. It is why running up the score is not smart. It's also an act of poor sportsmanship!!

Brady almost never gets hit. Plus next week is a big game. Their trying to get in as much live practice as possible. It was a scrimmage game.

Just let the disappointment with your team guide your answers, high five!

Of course it would suck if he got taken out from a blow to the knee (surely it will be an accident if it happens) but if you don't like it, buck up and play some defense. Is it really that hard of a concept?

I find myself not caring

You and I both know that if this scenario were to happen, Pats fans would be booing old Bill and crying about how "Tom shouldn't have even been in the game still. Gee, we were up by 35 what the hell was Bellicheck thinking? I can't believe he did that"

Agreed!

Putting aside all the "bad karma" nonsense, it makes good sense to get the reserves a lot of playing time in case you need them.

Why risk injury? All is takes is one freak play. Matt Schaub got absolutely pasted yesterday and knocked out of the game after an interception run back. He was more or less just standing there.

I also question using Vrabel regularly on offense. I have to think a team wouldn't mind dropping a nice chop block on him and potentially ending his season.

Maybe Bellicheck has Brady on his fantasy team...

YES they were running up the score. Thats Bellechek for you, he's an ***.
