its just you I think you let little things bother you too much. they are fair weather, but, Red Soxs fans are die hards. The bad part is that they showed a certain anatomical part when they 'celebrated' winning the world series. YEAH WE WON. LETS TURN OVER SOME CARS!!!! Mercy agreed ...all these New fans are most likly , Jets fans,, Bills Fans ,,Rams Fans .....whoevers not doing good ~!~!
I love the girls who are starting to show up on here and say they've been a "Life Long" fan however they only started there profile about a Month ago hmmmm.........((they don't know what a FAN is """~!
~GO CHIEFS~ Its just you...Hmmm...Going from a laughing stock to the best team in the NFL is something that diehard fans like me have endured...Its just you...Have faith...Maybe your team won't always suck... It's definitely YOU. If you lived here, you'd be just as happy as we all are. Besides, your memory is faulty. The sox haven't played in a half-empty fenway in 40 years. And the pats in many many years also. You have no idea of the dedication of the Boston sports fan through good times and bad! I agree. New Englanders are the epitome of bandwagon fans. Just please check your facts before you trash talk, because now you have to eat it:
NFL Attendance - 2002
New England 8 547,488 Total 68,436 Avg per game 100.6% Capacity
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/attendance... i hate bandwagon NE fans, and all NE fans for that matter yes they are, it doesn't matter to them if their team was caught cheating, i have no respect for the pats at all, Absolutely right. Its a joke and frankly I am sick and tired of it.
Worst fans in the world, plain and simple. used to think it was the Yankees, boy was I wrong. It's funny you call us sissies when we're the hardest working area in the nation. Lattes? Are you kidding? There's one Starbucks within a 30 mile radius of where I live and that just opened up for the bimbo high school girls. I don't think anyone in my family has even had a latte. New England is FAR from white collar.
That said I have to agree I hate the fans and news people in this area. The New England Sports Tonight (or whatever it is) team are saying "Good thing for Indy fans! They get to see what a passing game is really like!" Too bad Peyton has beaten Brady's *** in the numbers year in and year out, and has always been in a tougher division. Nobody on the planet sees that the receivers are doing most of the work for the Pats though. I haven't seen any bandwagoning. Everyone around here supported the Pats when they sucked. Now they're just ignorant about football.
I think Cali fans might be worse though. "HOCKEY SUCKS LOL!.... Wait what? The Ducks won the cup? GO ANAHEIM!!! WOOT!" You are mostly off base here. There are certainly bandwagon fans for NE teams.
However, the Sox have had die hard fans through a century of awful teams. It wasn't until recently when the team decided to spend billions of dollars buying a championship that the Sox were champions. Sox fans, while a bit elitist, are extremely loyal.
Also, the Pats have been selling out games for quite a while. Their core of fans is very loyal. It is true that there are a decent percentage of Pats fans that jumped on the bandwagon when things got good, and that overall the fans don't have a large of loyal fanbase as Philly or Pittsburgh, but most cities don't have that.
They are better than most places, particularly given that Boston is really not a large city.
Where you are spot on is the area of national fans. The Pats and Sox now have huge contingency of fans that jumped on the bandwagon when the team got good. Not New Englanders -- people elsewhere that just love a winner.
These fans show up in droves across the nation, and meet your definition for sure. It's you on the Red Sox. Most Sox fans suffered for a long time, and the Sox have always had a decent following. The Pats haven't had that because they started in the AFL, and were terrible until the Krafts took over the team. So there was no tradition.
Now that we're winning we have to listen to idiots like you. Now tell me honestly, did the Pirates sell out the park this year? have the Lions been selling out the last few years? How about the Tigers when they were bad? Why did Modell take the Browns to Baltimore? What happened to the old basketball franchise in Pittsburgh? How were the Cavs doing financially before Lebron? Don't get me wrong, all three cities are great sports towns, but without contenders they ebb and flow too.
We are really not much different than any of your cities at our core. The hard core fans have always been there. if anything, because we have a large student population we might be more prone to flux. We just happen to be good right now, so we have a lot of bandwagon fans. Like every city.
As a hard core fan who remembers Yastrzemski, Lonborg, Rice, Parilli, Cappaletti, Hannah, Grogan, Russell, Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ, Orr, Esposito and many, many others, I love it. So deal with it. and try to think of something positive to ask about. When it comes to football, yes, they are very fair weather. But when it comes to baseball, they stick with their team even when they suck. If you notice, the interest in baseball isnt near as big down here in the south. Tha's not true at all.
The Red Sox and Patriots have been selling out there games for more than 5 years ago.
There was much less Pats fans than Red Sox fans. But Theres been Sox fans FOREVER.
They have been there thru tough times, and that's actually what there known for.
Boston is a real sports town. We live and breath sports, when the Pats loose, we all are quiet on that Monday. If the Sox win the World Series, nobodies at work/school the next day.
86 years pal, 86 years. It's our turn now. boston was never known for football, just basketball Yes, you are a crappy sports fan as well as a crappy person. If I was a Tibbetts I would find you and give you something more to worry about than Red Sox fans. It's true that we were not big football fans but we have always embraced the Red Sox (there were plenty of dry years). The Celtics and Bruins still draw plenty of folks even though they have sucked recently. It just so happens that at the current time, the Red Sox AND Pats have something of a dynasty going on right now. Don't hate us because we're successful. We're just better than all of you. Any other questions? ahem,. while there are a lot of fair weather sports fans... this can be said of any team in any area of the country.
You dont think sissy New Englanders can sit thru tough times? Check out the 91 -92 Pats record... we sat thru years of Coach Rust screwing things up to the tone of 1-15... and we sat thru sexual harrassment allegations from a Boston Herald reporter in the Pats locker room....
Truth be told, most of us "bostonians" are true fans... but you are right, we wouldn't sit with you Pittsburgh, Detroit or Cleveland Blue Collar Fans... we'd enjoy a nice luxury box and imported beers as we watched our team dominate all comers... because we are all rich, snobby socialites in the white collar area of new england.
And Dont DARE talk about Sox Nation, if you come into the fenway area with a Michigan, Pennsylvania, or Ohio plate, or even worse a New YORK plate.. you car is liable to get tipped over and set on fire.
(A freakin girl got KILLED during our celebrations in 2004... tell Victoria Snellgrove that the Sox Fans weren't die hards... they were so die hard that the cops had to use pepper spray grenades to settle the crowds down!)
