The only reason Peyton Manning gets so much credit is because he plays into this whole commercialization of the NFL. Now Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Patriots on the other hand don't buy into that whole deal so they get trashed consistently. The Patriots are about greatness not the commercialization of the game. Why do you think the Patriots got buried for something that everybody does in the NFL, because they don't buy into the mindset of todays NFL. That's why Belichick is so angry all the time, because the guy is about football.... he's not into making the NFL into something it's not... I giant billboard. He was against the naming of Gillette Stadium wanting it just simply Foxboro Stadium. Why do you think he wears those horrible cut up sweatshirts... because he's sticking it to the man because he doesn't wanna be a billboard for Reebok.

I mean the Patriots get blasted for the whole "videogate" thing and the Colts get accused of pumping crowd noise and it's completely swept under the table. Why? Because they wouldn't want all those endorsements Peyton takes part in to be tainted by cheaters. It's all politics no matter where you go. I mean... another example, why do you Belichick is the only Head Coach that isn't on the Madden game? I think people should stop bashing him and realize the guy is just simply trying to make football about football.

greggymcgurks: yeah, right...I never thought doing a Snickers commercial was such a noble cause, and to think I only thought Snickers was around to satisfy me. My bad.

First of all, Belichick has no say in what they name a stadium, people seem to forget, coaches are WAGE EARNERS (that's a little Marxism for you). And it's not like Brady doesn't do a few endorsements here and there, just not as much as Peyton.

As much as I hate Brady (because he plays for a cheater, he went to Michigan, and he's a whiner) he's much more attractive than Peyton. But he probably doesn't have a great sense of humor or great camera presence and that's why he's not in every commercial during football games.

The one factor the NFL had over basketball and baseball is the lack of individualism, but no major sport can avoid the A-Rods, Kobe's, and very marketable Jeter's. We have T.O., Chad Johnson, and the McNabb's who can't keep their mouth shut and Peyton is football's Jeter. get over it.

Well I think Belichicks wears his cut up hoodies b/c he is a fat slob. But as far as the Comish taking over the leage yes he is but not in they way you are talking about. It was Paul Tagliabue who comershalized the NFL not Goodel. Goodel is take over from the point that he is comming down on the players and couches for what they do off the feild. So your really about ten years to late with this one

Yeah Tom does do ads... but he's very choosy, he does Stetson and promotes things that he believes in. It's not nearly as much as Peyton though... he does every thing that is thrown his way, I swear it must be in the guys contract or something.
That is true about Bill though... that is the main reason he has a bitter way about himself, he hates what these big executives are trying to do to the game. Bill is a football guy... he's not about self promoting or any of that, which I really feel is something that should be admired and not looked down upon as it seems many do.
There does seem to be a little bit of a bias in the NFL when it comes down to the Pats and the Colts. I mean... a few years back when the Colts were scoring over 40 points and blowing opponents like the Raiders out just because they could everyone loved it and couldn't stop talking about that unbelievable offense. Now the Patriots get their turn to do the same and Belichick is a jerk with no respect for blowing teams out. No one said anything when Peyton Manning would keep himself in the game when he was going for the TD record, but everyone is all over Brady and Belichick for staying late into the game. This is all because the NFL is full of larger then life personality and that's what makes the league money... the Patriots have always been kind of introverted... so of course they don't like that... they LOVE Peyton Manning whoring himself out though and have no problem calling him the best ever even though it's obviously Brady. EHH!! Why'd I even answer this question?
