NFL - Miami Dolphins v New York Giants - at Wembley Stadium?

Why is an American National Football League game going to be staged at Wembley Stadium, London, on 28 October 2007? I can't understand the logic of the Miami Dolphins 'hosting' their opponents at a stadium over 4400 miles from home. It seems an extremely odd decision.
I guess this means that 2008 FA Cup Final will be played in the United States!

The NFL is trying the broaden the appeal of the game beyond the United States. Last year, a game in Mexico City sold out and this year the target was Europe, with, in particular, England and Germany as the main targets.

The long term aim of the NFL is that each season, every team will play one match at a neutral venue - Europe, Mexico, Canada and areas in the US without a team (e.g., Los Angeles).

what i dont get is why out of all the teams they picked suched a boring game

wembley would'nt work as a football atatuim its tro small

MONEY $$$$$

1. Increase fan base - there is a huge NFL following in UK and across Europe. Over 500000 applied for tickets, and first 40,000 were sold out in 90 mins.
2. To make more money from said fan base.
3. The Miami Dolphins are the most easily recognisable NFL team. Everyone who nows anything about sports has heard of the Dolphins. And it always had to be 2 east coast teams to save travel, TV deals etc.
4. (to the guy who says Wembley is too small) it's a 90000 seater stadium which only the Redskins' FedExField is larger of all NFL stadiums.
5. And the pitch is 115 yards long by 75 yards wide which is longer and wider than american football.

they want to broaden their audience, i think its a good showcase for the rest of the world, and wembley is a fantastic facility, 1.6 billion us dollars, and definitely not too small....it doesn't make sense to rob the dolphins of a real home game though, maybe some exhibitions could be played overseas but that would lessen the drama. but the nfl does have alot of fans worldwide and they want to show appreciation for them. the nba and mlb are considering similar efforts for the future, as they have a huge amount of foreign players.

The NFL is trying to become bigger outside the USA. It does seem odd, I know. I wish I could explain it better.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY

The NFL is just trying to broaden their appeal in Europe. The game has a following everywhere. I think it is a good idea. It will be hard for people in England to ignore a sellout crowd at the Wembley, and maybe the atmosphere of a huge NFL crowd will show how much we love our football.

Maybe if the FA cup final was held here we could say the same thing. By the way I hope Man U wins to show that you can still win with heart, not Chelski money!
