What I need For Defensive End Training?

I'm training to become a defensive end for my high school varsity team. I'm 6'2, 210lbs, not very quick laterally/ grab rim on a bball rim. I bench in the 190s and have pretty strong soccer legs. I'm not genetically gifted so please post some tips and advice for a workout routine. Cheers!

i had a friend that played Defensive end in high school (and college now). he did somthing that i thought was wierd, but i saw the results (I played Safety so i got to see him work his magic every play)
the worked alot on his hand work first. he actually got a bucket and put uncooked rice in it. he put his arms in it and kept moving his arms in a clock-wise direction for 20 seconds, then went counter clock-wise for another 20 seconds. then in diffrent directions every 10 seconds. he said it was to help out his ability to move his hands around when the blockers try to block him. he was not very fast, it was his ability to push tackles away with quick and powerful arm motions and knocking away the opponent's arms when the blocker trys to block him. when you get his arms out of the way, the blocker usually has to step back in order to try to get his block again, if you can do this fast enough the blocker won't be able to fully hold you back

my friend also did alot of the stuff golfinguy79 said, so listen to what golfinguy79 says too

Shotgun, axe and a dummy to kill many times over

work with a trainer or coach.

Work on your weight training, you will need to be able to bench more than that. You should be able to bench more than your body weight. Do squats and power cleans to build explosiveness. Strong soccer legs won't do much when trying to move a 275+lb lineman out of your way. Work on your agility and speed. You have to be able to shed blockers quickly and recognize where the ball is to make the tackle. Run bleachers to increase endurance and stamina. Meet with your DLine coach and have him set up a work out routine for you.

in high school you still see alot of option and veer type offense so learn to read and react to the quarterback. you know your weakness so focus on weight room to improve strength and constantly work on short lateral burst while on the field or on the courts. as you grow you will add bulk so focus on fundamentals and listen to your coaches they know what they expect from you.
and watch the crack-back blocks they are killers
