|Ohio State vs South Florida - Worst BCS Championship game?|
If OSU and USF both go underfeated, do they derserve to play in the BCS championship game? Also, would this be the worst BCS game ever? Any early predictions?
It doesn't surprise me that South Florida is #2 on the BCS rankings, as that system is very decieving as it discounts strength of schedule and has no regard for margin of victory. On other, more accurate listings, South Florida is as low as #6 (BGS Ratings), which is where they should be. That said, should the Bulls run the table and finish as one of two undefeated teams, they should be entitled to a championship berth.
Why not? Other teams blew it this year and LOST. If they are the only undefeateds standing at the end of the season, more power to them.
I think OSU is going to lose. So the worst game would be Boston College against S. Florida. I still don't believe S. Florida is there.
The way ranked teams are falling week after week, I would not give a prediction, let alone odds that OSU and UFS would play eachother. I will go out on a limb and guess that this season will come down to the last week.
Of Course they would deserve to. That is how the system is set up. Heck what other Conference team plays REAL opponents out of Conference? So don't hand me the they haven't played anyone crap at this point. Also South Florida has played a better schedule then a few schools already, people are just mad at the Bulls because they hadn't heard of them and they don't want to have to learn about a new team.
NO and Yes.
I still dont buy into South Florida, because sure they beat West Virgina, but Pat White was injured from the second quarter on and they only won by 8. Besides, who ever said West Va. was a BCS Contender anyway?
Many of you don't realize just how big USF really is... it's the 9th largest campus in the NCAA... there's a lotta shifting going on in NCAA football... coaching changes, recruiting changes; the gap is closing in on the difference btwn a powerhouse and a mediocre team... lots of AA division teams are steppin into the 1-A picture... and it's only a matter of time before these teams become contenders... football is everchanging... Nebraska had a GREAT run late 80's into 90's, Bama did the same thing... OSU sucked when cooper coached, now that tressel is in the picture, things have changed.... Spurrier has single-handedly rebuilt the program @ South Carolina, and now the same thing is happening at KY... Pac-10 teams are getting stronger... USC is having to share the wealth of other schools like CAL, Washington (who knocked off OU in 2005), Oregon... this is a new era of football... I don't know if you remember... but Boise State was the ONLY undefeated team after bowl season last year... and the year Auburn went undefeated, so did Utah State! Conference USA is turning out some better programs... like Southern Miss... Georgia is having some rough years, along with Tennessee... so is Michigan...Mich, Notre Dame and Texas lead the NCAA in overall victories... this is a sport that started with Harvard and Yale as the top teams... and it will change in years to come... don't you ever hear someone older talking about football and saying..."it's not like it used to be..." but the way we see it now, it's captivating! So... you may be surprised... but this is going to happen, and keep happening as this sport's popularity flourishes and keeps bringin in the money!!
USF is the real deal. If they run the table in a decent big east, they deserve a shot. Let's not forget they also beat Auburn. When Aubrun scheduled the game, they thought they were getting a patsy. There is no team in the country that I don't think USF is capable of beating. I don't think they are the best, but it is a possibilty.
Ohio State doesn't deserve to be there if they win out. There hardest game will be later against Michigan. South Florida on the other hand have beaten Auburn and West Virginia. People are knocking South Florida, because they don't have much of a football past, only about 12 years. If any other team in the nation were undefeated right now with wins over Auburn and West Virginia then everyone would be easily voting them #1 in the country.
Both teams certainly deserve to be there, if they both go undefeated. But, it will be another beating given to THEE OHIO STATE UNIV. by just another Florida school.
If they both go undefeated then yes, since there is no playoff system to determine an actual champion they have both played their way in.
Big Ten vs. Big East belongs in a joke book. I am looking forward to the laugh if it does happen, though. And it will prove my point about the Big East.
Ohio State is the best team in the land. There is no one in their path that can actually play a real man's game. Everyone is like a JV football. My Prediction Ohio State Buckeyes 45. University of South Florida 2.
The BCS is a joke. For accurate Ratings I use the BGS Power Ratings, found right here on Yahoo!
