59 yr old still eligible?

How is it that a 59 yr old that graduated around 35 yrs ago is still eligible to play on the college football team? His name is Mike Flynt.

Young at heart maybe?

he could've gotten hurt and left college/athletics early.

therefore, he has eligibility still left, so he can participate in athletics, legally speaking.

a 40-yr old mom an cross country for some team a couple years ago. she left due to a pregnancy, returned 20 years later.

After watching the movie with Robin Williams and Kurt Russell in it, with his buddies, he must have been inspired. Some people do not get their Doctorates until later in life. Perhaps this is a stipulation. He at least meets the physical standard for participation and the news article says he has money; so why not? Its not like high school where you can't go back. If you have the time, money and physical attributes...go for it.
Besides....it's a third rate community college. Had he gone to Texas A&M and got into the fight he had gotten into in his original inception; he might not have been able to return. The first "pile up" he gets into and twists an ankle he'll be done anyway.

Because he never played before...Therefore his eligibility is not used up...

Because he didn't play originally and never used up his eligibility...

Heard about that on the radio he is apersonal trainer and stays in shape or somthingbut he played for a small school. he didnt play his senior year and was still eligeble.

his college status never left him because he never went pro

he also probably didnt finish college

Then his next appearance is on Jerry Springer.
What a joke.

like others have said, he still has his senior year of eligibility, because he got kicked off the team (and school i think) before his senior season started. I think it's crazy, and he could get hurt, but it looks like he's kept himself in top physical condition. So good luck to him!

I think it's great! Just because he is 59 doesn't mean anything, he's no doubt, in better shape than some of the young ones playing!
