The AP Top 25 Poll will be released tomorrow mourning.

It's tough to judge the Preseason Polls. The deadline for the coaches' ballots was before August Second when Stoops announced Bomar's dismissal. They will surely slide, especially with an early loss. Look for OU to be ranked much lower when the AP Poll is released (those ballots weren't due until this week).

The problem with preseason rankings was highlighted best at the end of the 2004 season. When OU, USC, and Auburn all finished the regular season undefeated, the Tigers were ranked third. This was basically due to the fact that they were the lowest ranked of the three during the Preseason.

That is the reason that, when the Harris Poll was introduced into the mix last year, the voters didn't submit a ballot until something like the fourth week of the season.

Heck, a couple of the Preseason magazines picked OU to win it all again this year. There is an entire website devoted to the accuracy of Preseason Predictions (www.stassen.com), but all it really does for me is whet my appetite for the season to start.

Only three more weeks, and then we'll see the wheat get separated from the chaff.

it looks like texas is overrated..... they will have a new QB so they wont be that good...

The coaches poll means nothing they have okl ranked five and they just lost there starting quarterback. I do not put much value in preseason polls remember the game is played on the field not on paper.

by the way look out for Rutgers this year they should crack the top 25 for the first time ever

Overall I think they're right on. Oklahoma should drop down some now though.

I would say ND, Texas, USC, and Auburn in order afterward. Oklahoma could be in there, but I'm not sure. Pederson will be good, but does he have anyone else helping him out?
I know it sounds crazy, but this is my prediction. West Virginia is good and they have a pretty weak schedule this year, so they will probably end up undefeated. Ohio State has one of the best offenses in the nation and their defense, although they lost nine starters, is always tough and has already reloaded. ND, Texas, USC, Oklahoma, and Auburn will all lose at least one game along with the rest of the top 25, leaving OSU and WVU as the only two unbeaten teams in the NCAA. So, in the Fiesta Bowl, we will see the Ohio State Buckeyes returning to Tempe and beating the West Virginia Mountaineers by a score of 38-17. Ohio State...your 2007 National Champions.

Ohio State has a test at Texas, vs Penn State, and Michigan. Texas plays an easier schedule although vs Texas Tech and Ohio State will be tough. Notre Dame I believe is a little overrated with a great offense but a weak defense with games at Ga Tech, vs Penn State, Michigan, and USC they will lose at least two. Auburn plays their biggest games at home and West Virginia has a very favorable schedule and these two may play for it all. Remember also that Okllahoma lost their QB so they will have a much harder time unless he matures fast! I agree with most of the top 25 except Tennessee who was awful last year and has a lot to prove still and teams like Ga Tech could be a darkhorse and Utah deserves to be in the top 25.

For Oklahoma to get 13 first-place votes but only be #5 while others in front of them have fewer 1s means people are really split on the Sooners. Must have been some coaches who barely had them in the Top 10.

Looking down the list, I'm surprised to see Tennessee in there, with as bad a season as they had last year. Very surprised to see Penn State as low as 19. Michigan's overrated, as usual, as is Notre Dame. Little surprised to see Auburn as the top-rated SEC team.

I think that they are interesting to look at, but you can't judge a team on how they did last year. I think a lot of people will be surprised.
