Center, an underrated position in college football?

Bill Curry has done a great job to educate football fans about this position, the anchor of the o-line. What qualities must an excellent center demonstrate?

Hand to eye coordination, footwork and foot speed, proper leveraging of you body, reaction time, upper body strength and leg strength.

The "blindside" tackle position seems to get the most attention since it protects the QB's back, but the center position is arguable the most critical. Being able to properly get the snap off both aiming at the QB's hands and getting the timing right and having a fast enough reaction time to get upright and block afterwards are challenging. Not to mention, success of the inside running game up the middle between the guards is dependent on the center.

Yes, they have one of the hardest jobs in football, and people do not realize that. It takes a lot to be a center.

Very underrated position all around. Without him how would the quarterback get the ball. He's the leader of the offensive line. When he's down, the middle is open. Not to mention, he has to block after snapping the ball.
