| How do you stop the wing t in high school football? |
Solid stay at home defense. |
Run a 4-3 with one LB on the strong side wing make sure your defensive ends stay at home and make sure your lb don't over persue. The Wing T is a gimmick offense that relies on misdirections such as counters and reverses. 3-5-3 with the down lineman in standard rush, linebakers to stay at home, cover the gaps, and key off the direction of blocking by the O line. the 3 D-backs will cover man on man in a 3 reciver set. With a 2 reciever set the remaining D-back can blitz strong side or help cover option man on a sweep. In 3rd and long situtations 2 of the 5 linebackers can watch for run but drop into short zone coverage in the case of a screen. Teach your players to follow their assignments and stay home. This offense is a deadly high school offense if the rbs, fb, and qb are fast you are in trouble. Gamble with different blitz packages and follow the pulling guards. lasts eason we stoped the best team in the conference and forced them to change offenses to where they had a RB with 3 FB+OL. we ran a 5-2. the DEs are in a LB stance sort of and just took their read step and would block the WR coming from the motion and as oneof the MLBs we read that game perfectly. they didnt urn the ball up the middle after 3 trys and the outside didnt work because the DEs would either get him or our flowing LBs would eventually get him at the line or near it. just dont have your palyers sprint intot he backfield and hope hes there get a yard deep and look where it is. also watch plenty of tape and see what happens if a certina player goes in motion. if the WR starts sprinting across the field-maybe designate a certain player to manup or shift the lbs over some to be closer to taht area. |
