At this point in his career shouldnt McNair know that this is a "what have you done for me lately league"?

He is angry that Ravens fans are calling for Boller becaus he cant get the job done. He's been playing along time, so shouldnt he know that it doesnt matter how good of a career you have had or what you did last season? The only thing that matters is what you have been able to do this season and thats nothing.

You can almost never count on a player to decide when it is time to relinquish a starting role. The competitive nature will always drive these guys to want to compete on a high level.

As far as the decision to bench him, the rumblings for Boller are not without merit. McNair had an 'OK' 2006 campaign (16 tds and 14 ints) that does not warrant job security. This year he has looked completely lackadaisical - like a dear in staring into headlights of the opposing defense. He is turning the ball over way too much, especially considering the extremely conservative play calling. The OL has played better than average this year, but McNair has struggled to make his reads and generally just dumps the ball off or takes a sack.

Remember, the Ravens gave McNair a chance when the Titans turned their back on him. In the Titans situation, McNair was treated unfairly; however, the Ravens have given him more than enough chances to prove himself. Ironically, the Ravens have stuck with McNair mostly for what he did while he was a Titan.

Boller plays slightly better at times but is younger and is more aggressive. If the team is going to turn it over, better it be 30 yards down the field on a typical Boller overthrow. If they want to keep playing conservative, then RUN THE DAMN BALL.

Sorry for the length, I'm a Raven's Fan. Also, I'll bite my tongue about the Cleveland and Billick comments, since that wasn't part of the question.

Yea!!!

When you have a lame pathetic predictable playbook like the Ravens have it really doesn't matter who your qb is.

The mind is willing but the body is weak. I think he needs to hang it up. He is too immobile and has taken too many hits.

Hello:

First I hate the Ravens for getting taken out of Cleveland...you don't take the Browns out of Cleveland (yeah I know they're still there, you know what I mean) but as for the question...

Sadly he is guilty of what many of us are...hope and/or self delusion. Really every player at every position should be aware of this with very few exceptions. I mean even Farve has people talking over the hill every season...

McNair had a good year last year and is likely aware that if things would just click a little better that it would happen again...and its frustrating to not have the support of the city that you play for.

Rev Phil

He should but I dont think everything that has gone wrong is his fault. Billick is to blame. I say fire him but I am one of those Ravens fans thats calling for Boller.

Obviously Boller is not the answer, that is why McNair is still starting. This team collapsed this year, Ray Ray was expecting to go to the SB. No offense, coaching is suspect and the D is getting old. Ray do you hear that? That is your career going down the tube because of an idiot coach.

First of all, Billick is supposedly this "offensive genius" yet his entire stint in Baltimore, including the superbowl year, he's never fielded a potent offense. The defense has carried this team and it's aging. They had a heck of a good run for a long time, but it doesn't last forever. It's probably time to go a different direction with the coaching and trying to get younger on both sides of the ball. It's going to be a painful next few years in Baltimore I have a feeling. And yes, I think McNair is in denial about the state of decline that his body is in. You can't will yourself into being healthy forever.

billick needs to get out of here. mcnair is too old to still be playing hes not what he used to be hes all banged up, and he cant throw anymore. when your down 35-7 you need to be thowing the ball at the LEAST 10 yards. little 5 yard passes late in the 3rd and 4th quarters arnt doing anything.

What is it with Black QB's thinking the world owes them something? McNair is just as bad as McNabb is in Philly. Maybe it's not all their fault that their teams are doing so bad, but as the QB they are responsible for most of it, and are in the position most able to change it. They both need to quit whinning about the fans and start putting there heads into the game.

I think that last year was a fluke for McNair, he has never really been all that great as a QB. He is pretty much done, so stick a fork in him already!
