I know it is tradition to have the superbowl on sunday because of the day but isnt this the culture of changing the tradition. They could have it on sat night giving people who have to work on monday enjoy it and if the NFL would promote it right they could make this a huge weekend of football and maybe even have a replay on sunday for the diehards.

First of all, NFL football is traditionally a Sunday sport. Sure there are the Monday and Thursday nights as well as some Saturdays late in the season but the huge majority of the games are on Sundays.
That being said, the issue is mostly about TV and money. As far as the TV industry is concerned, Thursday and Sunday are the big TV ratings nights. Look at the shows that are on those nights like Grey's Anatomy, American Idol, CSI, Extreme Makeover: Home and Desperate Housewives.
The TV industry considers Saturday night a traditional "going out" night when people usually leave their homes for social things, entertainment, etc. The networks don't put any good or highly popular shows on Saturdays. Just look at the schedule for Saturday nights.
Sure, a Saturday night Super Bowl would pull in monster ratings like a Sunday one but the NFL and TV people would be afraid to lose even the smallest bit of ratings, as that lowers their ad revenue. They just love to match a monster ratings show, the Super Bowl, with a high ratings night, Sunday. This maximizes their ad revenue and profile.
Since the Super Bowl is really all about the players, teams, league and networks making money, don't expect the Super Bowl to be on Saturday anytime soon.

That's absurd. There is no GOOD reason to play the SUper Bowl on a Saturday. Sunday is football day, thats why it is, and will always be played on Sunday. Besides, Super Bowl Saturday doesn't sound right.

For the host city, the want Sunday, because people come in, stay in hotel rooms, and party on Friday night, all day Saturday and Saturday night, and Sunday, and generally they do not leave until Monday.

If the game was a day earlier, people would fly out Sunday morning.

Also, the partying and looting could get really out of hand in the winning and losing cities if the game was on Saturday night.

BECAUSE IT'S THE SUPERBOWL

Seriously, it's bad enough that the Super Bowl is no longer in January because of the schedule. The Super Bowl this year was at 6pm and as long as east coast teams continue to be in you'll have plenty of time to enjoy it. Plus, the Super Bowl gets plenty of viewers on a Sunday. The change in day won't make a difference.

And the NFL promotes it as a week long event as it is. Sundays are for NFL, Saturdays are for College. It's an American standard. Don't screw with it.

Cause it's the tradition. Almost all the NFL games are played on Sundays and the Super Bowl has always been played on Sunday. I really dont see how it's so hard for people to get to work the next day. Even if you are on the East coast, the game would still end before midnight.
