How can R.L. White (NAACP) support Mike Vick and his actions by saying something as dense as 'Mike Vick wouldn't be vilified as much had he killed a person'. What kind of crap is that? This is not a white/black thing! Michael Vick is one of the "faces of the NFL", so of course he's going to be under more scrutiny than say a third string cornerback, but I truly don't believe race is an issue. Furthermore, the NAACP further proves that the black community needs new leaders. What are your thoughts on R.L. Whites comments, and should Vick be let back into the lead?

I think the real question here is: How did a marginal QB like Mike Vick become one of 'the faces' of the NFL? He certainly isn't as good as a Drew Brees or a Carson Palmer, yet the NFL shamelessly promoted him like he was John Elway!

I can't believe the Feds let him slide on the gambling charge, paving the way to let him play in the NFL again - unless he is going to finger the local aithorities that were protecting him! We all know Vick knows how to use the finger!

Let's see, breeding, fighting and executing will get you a good number of years in jail. In NFL terms he would be probably suspended for a year afterwards with strict survellience. Add in that he was fundiing and gambling on the fights, which can equate to a lifetime ban from the NFL like Art Schliecster received in 1984 i believe ( i might be a few years off) because the NFL highly prohibits gambling on any events. So unless someone slips some hardcore moonshine or Tequila in Roger Goodell's morning coffee before he makes the announcement, bye bye Michael Vick.

Edit: I know the judge is dropping the racketeering charges, but Roger Goodell sure won't forget that he was involved in that phase of the crimes.

It's sad that an organization that has done so much good historically has sunk so low. I was especially appalled at how, in defending Vick, he attacked the co-defendants who accepted plea deals first. Now, aren't they African-Americans as well? Odd how the people in the case who aren't millionaires were attacked by White in order to defend the one who is. White is obviously more concerned about money than justice.

FYI...not all African Americans rely on the NAACP.
As an African American male, they do not dictate what I do in my life. Also, the NAACP is no where near the organization it used to be.

What Vick did was wrong. He'll serve his debt to society (jail time/fines) and it's done. Period, lets move on.

Funny, the pastor's wife who brutally murdered her husband (shot him in the back, let him bleed to death, then took the children on vacation) got 7 months in prison and returned to her old job aftewards. Vick will be lucky if he ever can.

So, I guess brutally killing a person is less important than brutally killing some dogs.

Just a note, that the leadership of the NAACP doesn't have a real clue about what is going on. There are some real injustices out there due to racism, but they are focused on Michael Vick? That doesn't make sense. R.L. White doesn't mention that hunting is licensed and legal, but dog fighting is a felony in 46 states and federally. And was illegal when Vick started it. Why wasn't White saying this before Vick got arrested if it was really an issue with him? As far as your comment the gambling and racketeering charges were dropped. They were never filed. There are gambling charges that are still applied. But a new set of gambling and racketeering charges were never filed due to the plea agreement. He still has two sets of gambling charges against him.

He thinks it's OK to commit crimes if you're black. And if blacks like certain crimes, those crimes should be legal.

I think Pickles is right, Vick paid him. Civil rights is a business now, not a consciousness. Is White his slave name?
