My uncle played in the NFL in the 50s and 60s Has anyone ever heard of him?

His name is Preston Carpenter. He was the number one draft choice in 1956 out of Arkansas. He started playing fullback for Jim brown in 1957. He later moved to tight end for a number of other teams. I was hoping someone could tell me more about is career.thanks

He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns from Arizona. He played for the Browns for four years. In his first year he rushed for 756 yards and averaged 4.0 per carry. The next year he played he averaged 28.7 yards per carry but only had 3 carriers. He got his first touchdown that year. One rushing and one receiving. In 1960 he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers were he had 460 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He also was a punt returner and a kickoff returner. He was chosen to the all pro team in 1962, he was the only tight end chosen. Preston Carpenter has also earned a spot in the Steelers "All Time Roster" (which is a great honer, I know because I am a Steelers fan). After playing for the Steelers he played for the Washington Redskins. after two years with the Redskins he played for the Minnesota than played his last year with the Maim Dolphins in AFL. He retired at the age of 33. He finished his career with 23 receiving touchdown and one rushing touchdown.'

I never heard of him, but he sound like he was a great person and a honer to have him put on Black and Gold.

I had not heard of him until I read your question... but it is very interesting... here is some information:
