The top 6 teams from each conference get in. The 2 with the best records get home field advatage and the first week off. The remaining 4 battle it out. The 3rd best team plays the 6th and the 4th and 5th play against each other. The next week the 1st best team would play the worst of the remaining 2 teams then the other 2 would play each other. Then the remaining 2 meet up in the Conference Championship where the team with the best record gets home field. Then the winner faces the other conference winner in the Super Bowl.

They choose according to the records from the NFC and the AFC. There should be 12 teams for the Wild Card game and the playoffs. To get to the playoffs, different teams that still have a chance needs a certain type of victory according to what other teams that need to lose.
