Why dose people think that charlie weis and notre dame are overrated besides there lost in the sugar bowl?

you have to give them some props

Because they didn't play well in the big games. (Michigan, LSU, USC) They are a very good team however, and If you give Quinn time he is the best quarterback in the country.

norte dame is a great team and a storied program, but why can't they win bowls?

because they only win games against flower teams and lose when they play the big boys (i.e. USC, LSU, etc.)

Notre Dame is a decent football team that should not recieve special treatment for accomplishments made decades ago. The simple fact is that they are NOT a prenial powerhouse in college football, and have not been for a long time. I think that it is disgraceful that every year they take a bowl spot form a more deserving team, go into the bowl game, and get their asses handed to them. Not only is Charlie Weis and his team overrated, but Charlie is overweight and looks like he is about to kill over at any moment.

They haven't won a bowl game sinse 1994. So apparently they are over-rated every year at bowl time. They get put in a game that they have no business being in, with a team they can't handle.

Notre Dame always gets in over their head in the bowl games. The bowl game sponsors want to sell tickets, so inviting Notre Dame is a sure way to do that. The down side for ND is that they always play a team that is better then they are. They get their cash, but get humiliated at the worse time - when they are in the spotlight in a big bowl game. They do it to themselves.

First, run spell check and use proper syntax.

Second, look at their strength of schedule. They play the 3 service academies which are almost guaranteed wins. They're not in a conference because they'd have to play real teams all year.

They lost the Sugar Bowl because they played a team that didn't cakewalk through the season!

I'm sorry...I don't know what "props" are...but I wouldn't give ND any.

Notre Dame is overrated, they started the year out ranked in every body's top 3 and they lost every big game Brady Quinn is an average QB that disappeared in every big game of his career. Until Weiss finally wins against USC, Michigan, or wins a bowl game they will be living in the past.

To put it quite simply, in order to be considered a great or elite team in any sports arena whether it be college football, nfl, nba, ncaa or w/e you have to win. Success and all the acclaim and praise come with wins. Its no longer about winning in the regular season, b/c several teams recently have damn near run the table and failed in the post-season. Its all about the shine, the lime-light...espn highlights and little trophies of old bronze has-beens. Its not about building teams or recruiting or teaching, its about winning the big game. Im not too familiar with college, but this is Weis' second yr(i think thats right) and already here comes the villagers with the pichforks. What better coaching prospect is out there better than Weis'? Not many if any. Weis' is obviously focusing on building. Coaches hop around like mid-west tornados now-a-days, several NFL head coach jobs available. ND football hasnt really been top notch in years. Bowl Games yeah but not the Big Show. Pay respect where its due, theres talent on that sideline and Weis' is a great coach...you dis him and he goes back to the pros and you're back to square one. Which is losing...but darn(haha, i said darn) aren't you guys still losing anyway??...what was the question again ?

Give them props?? They are overated because they barely beat michigan state, and UCLA both teams didn't even play in a bowl. Plus if they are SOOOO good, how come LSU smoked them in the BOwl game. Come to think of it didn't they lose last years bowl game too. CAN U SAY OVERRATED!!!

They only played three top teams this year. And each time they were blown out (Mich, USC, Sugar Bowl). Other then that, they played average-at-best teams. Yet they were highly ranked all year?

Well, let's see:

- Blown out by an overrated Michigan team
- Blown out by USC
- Blown out by LSU
- Had to come from behind to beat what turned out to be a bad Michigan State team
- Had to come from behind to beat a mediocre UCLA team
- A win over Navy, who hasn't beaten them since Roger Staubach was Navy's QB (1963)
- Wins over Army, Stanford, and North Carolina, who were a combined 7-29. Add in Air Force and you have 11-37.

When you look at it, the only three quality wins they probably had were Georgia Tech, Penn State and Purdue.
