I need linebacker drills...read and react drills...no complicated drills...this is youth football ages 7 to 9?

oklahomas with 2 down linemen on the offense and 1 defensive linemen with a LB and RB. that might help some.

also we did this:
take a guard (we did this with 2 each) and LB. theres 5 sets of calls.
-one is the guard comes at the LB. the LB goes and hits the G and pushes him back or atleast stands him up.
-second:the guard blcoks down, making a whole for a running back (like he blocks down on a NT) the LB reads and runs and plugs the whole. can have the gaurd blcok down to the DE side as well.
-3rd,pulling guard. if you have these, if the guard pulls have the LB take his read step and flow along with being a step behind or same step. if hes flowing to the open side (LG going left) and not the crowded side, have him close off space and get closer as he does.
-4th. sort of a pull and down block, ahve the G come at the LB at an angle (down field block) and have the line backer go to the outside and rip step the G.
-5th pass: have the guards just stand up and the LBs drop back a few steps and go to the outside some. (we rana 5-2 as a MLB we had to cover the hooks to flats to curls [we were beast])

hope this helps if its not complicated. some programs are better than others and the players can do this while others cant.

shed drill, were someone comes to block you and you shed them using your shoulder(rip). that will help them get away from blocks and make tackles.

have four cones set up in a square.....place another cone in the middle.........have a ball carrier and linebacker line up oppisite each other.......have the linebacker sprint to the middles cone and stop at the middle of the cone and have them keep their feet moving........at the same time have the runner sprint to the cone.....when the ball carrier gets about 3-4 yds from the cone have them cut to one of the corners......the linebacker has to react and get their heads accross to make the tackle.

it keeps their heads up...feet moving....and reaction

Texas style...
throw rocks at them and the one with the least amount of knots on their head at the end.... starts.

kidding...

line up 2 dummys or some cones so they look like this | | and have one kid on each end give a ball to one kid and have the other one try to tackle the ball carrier. But theres a catch! they have to run to one side or the other.
