When betting on a parlay, do the teams you bet for have to win by the plus/minus points given to them...?

in order to win the whole parlay or is it considered a straight bet? I'm going down to bet this weekend and I'm still trying to understand how it works. And does every sporting bet place payout different or are they all the same. The place where I am going pays on a straight bet if you win $9 to every $10. Thanks

You can play either way. Straight up or with the points but with points pays more. They also have parlay teaser cards and such that have better spreads but again don't pay that much.

It seems overwhelming at first, but once you get there you'll see it's not so hard to understand.

Yes, they have to cover the spread whether it's a positive (getting points) or negative number (giving points). Double check to see if a tie is a lost. It usually is, but some places offer a tie as a no play on that game. As far as payouts, it differs too...a minimum should be 4 teamer wins 11.

Just for entertainment purposes:
UCLA -14
Alabama -3
BYU -7
Florida St -4
