considering that this is hall of fame weekend, and that art monk's numbers on just about every front are better than michael irvin's, why isn't monk in while irvin will be enshrined this weekend?

Somehow Art Monk was just always lower on the radar than Irvin. Art Monk, much like Marvin Harrison today was just a guy who quietly went to work and made plays every week. Irvin was a huge personality on the NFL's glamour team. He also did win more championships.

I think both deserve to be in the hall, but I agree with you. If I had to pick between the two of them Art Monk deserves to go first. He put up better indivdual numbers without the benefit of playing alongside an amazing QB like Troy Aikman.

Not to mention Monk wasn't a big coke-head thug from 'The U' like Irvin. Art Monk was the second best receiver of his era after Steve Largent. He should definitely be in the Hall Of Fame - Irvin shouldn't, and I'm a Cowboys fan.

irvin won 3 super bowls while monk won 2. because monk put up better numbers than irvin, and was such a consistant receiver. i'd say he'll be inducted in the upcoming few years. he has definitely deserved it.

in my opinion he should be but i feel he isnt because he wasnt flashy enough...today you say micheal irvin people still know who he is because of his antics but if you say art monk people say ,"who?".i know monk had the fun bunch but that was a team thing art didnt do anything to stand out..which to me is a good thing because it shows class but today its all about style over substance.

Man went Art Monk's retire he was the all time leading wide receiver in the NFL in term of yards and numbers of catches. I can't understand why they didn't let him in yet, he's a first ballot HOF but rather lets Irvin in first, i can't seen to under stand that, especially class act like Monk unlike Irvin who's a drug addict user. But hopefully he'll get in next year, you can't talking about WR's without talking about Art Monk's in the NFL history. Oh and Art Monk's has 2 Super Bowl to go with his resume

That's a great question. He should be there I think, based on number alone. His only knock is that he had two other good receivers playing with him and that he was kind of a possession receiver.
