Hines Ward's hall of fame?

1. Is he worthy enough to go into the Hall of Fame? If so, what ballot?
2. When do you think he will retire?
3. Do you think he will have 1,100 yards receving season if he doesn't get injured?

I will answer your three questions in the order you lay them out.

1. Is he worthy enough to go into the Hall of Fame? Is so, what ballot?

If he continues to play as he has, he definately should make the Hall of Fame. Nobody is tougher over the middle and nobody blocks as well as him as far as recievers go. One of the toughest recievers in the N.F.L. Also he holds the Steelers career record for recieving yards. If you figure that Lynn Swann and John Stallworth both made it into the Hall of Fame for the Steelers then you have to put Ward in also. His winning M.V.P of super bowl forty will only help him get in faster. I do not think he will get in first ballot, but definately within his first eight ballots.

2. When do you think he will retire?

Ward is not over the hill yet. He can still produce some good seasons and I expect him to play for at least five more years.

3. Do you think he will have 1100 yards receving season if he doesnt get injured?

Yes. Big Ben was playing well towards the end of the season and one of his favorite targets is Ward. If Ben is fully recovered, which he is, he should be able to have a big season throwing the ball, especially to his best target Hines Ward. Ward I expect to get over twelve thousand yards recieving and have one of his best seasons yet.

So there is what I think about Hines Ward.

You guys are dumb and dont undertsnad how the HoF works in the NFl his chances are slim to none. Report It

Well its possible,If he has some break out seasons with 1,000+ receiving and he needs to pick up his TD rate, he will need to start making 15-25 TDs a season until he retires. Some more super bowl wins would help. And he needs to get out of Pittsburgh.

Firstly, ABSO-FRICKIN-LUTELY!
Secondly, He may retire in the next few years! (Maybe)
Thirdly, I don't see him having that many yards catching just cause the way the offense is set up for the run first and then passing is secondary! Although, we'll see what happens this year with Tomlin as our coach. He does have very big shoes to fill but I still don't see him changing this team too much. You can't fix what ain't broke!!

yes he will be in the hall. further, he is a very durable player and likely has quite a few years left in his career. I predict his performance will improve even more as younger players (especially in the running game) will draw more attention from defenses and leave him open more often.

Slim to none. Theres only 18 receivers in the modern era half of fame. You think hes in the top wide outs of all time. Last one selected was Micheal Ivrin . In his rookie year he had 20.4 YPC and lead the NFC. He set several NFL records and won 3 super bowls.

Hines Ward is great but doesnt hold any NFL records. Football Hall of Fame isnt as easy to get in as some other sports. I mean Torry Holt will have a hard time getting in and he wasposted much better numbers than Ward.

1. Of course he is. Always considered one of the most underrated and best blocking receiver
I agree with the person who once said, if you are going to put them in then vote for them right from the first ballot.
2. Probably after this current contract, although don't remember when it expires so not sure. He is getting older now and being a blocking receiver his body gets worn out faster then if he was simply finesse
3. If he plays 100% healthy all year I think he will. Although part of it depends on how Tomlin wants to do things. If they still want to pass more then yeah. If they want to run 65%-70% of the time then I think it will be a little tougher but he should still get there.

no no and no

No way....The Hall of Fame does not love the RBs and WRs as much as the fans do. They are aware that there are other postitions. Be careful using Michael Irvin as a benchmark for the Hall of Fame...If you do then Marcus Vick might be a candidate or Chris Henry or Pacman Jones. Michael Irvin sent some of his "magical cigars" to the committee before he was voted in.

Ward might get into the HoF...but it won't be a shoe-in kind of thing by any means. He's a decent receiver but we'll have to see what happens when the time comes. He's just not one of those A+ receivers like Jerry Rice...Tim Brown....and so on. Marvin Harrison on the other hand...he's probably a shoe-in by the time he retires...one of those A+ kind of guys.

He only has 8000 yards...almost 60 TDs...and his best season was 1,329 yards and 12 TDs....Steve Smith did better than that in 2005 with 1,563 yards and 13 TDs (one rushing) and he may not get into the HoF (although we don't know yet either) Guys like T.O. and Randy Moss have over 100 TDs...Ward wont even come close to them.

Ward wont retire any time soon....soon being 1-2 years...I think he's got something like 4 or maybe even 5 years left in him.

Ward getting 1,100+ yards next season...eh...It's possible but I'm not sure how likely it is. The last time he had 1,000 yards was in 2004. The Steelers are a run first kind of a team. Willie should get around 1,500 yards again though, perhaps more.

lol he sucks ****

WR is the hardest position to get in, and there are many more WR's more deserving than him that arn't in yet. He deserves to be in the hall of fame, but he won't get in for at least 20 years.

nooooo

yes he will because hines is in his prime and he will get 1,100 yards, and with the new coach mybe they will do more pass?

i don't think so buddy

he is not as good as people think

i would describe him as OVER RAITED

I think Hines Ward has hall of fame calibur ability, but a lot of his success depends on Roethlisburger performs this year behind center for Pittsburgh.

Ward never had a truly healthy #1 QB throwing his way for the majority of the season last year. The Steelers running game last season wasn't up to par with their standards either. Perhaps some of that had to do with the retirement of Jarome Bettis having a bigger effect on the team's running attack than most had initionally envisioned going into the 2006 season.

The Steelers offense just wasn't firing on all cylinders last season, and that will need to change this year if you want to see the best productivity you can get out of the Steelers number 1 wide-out.

At this point I'm leaning towards Ward getting into the hall. As others have pointed out, WRs don't have an easy time getting into the hall, and I wouldn't even rank Ward as the best overall reciever of his active playing era. I think that distinction is something that can be debated over with the careers of Marvin Harrison and Torry Holt.

However we aren't going to get a true measure of Ward's hall-of-fame potential until he calls it career as a player. So just keep watching and judge for yourself then when that time comes.

3. No
2. in 3 or 4 years
1. yes on his 2nd or 3rd ballot

Yes. I think Tomlin is going to make some big changes but the Ben-Ward pairing is not going to change anytime soon. With Holmes and Wilson making big showings on the field, the passing game with the Steelers is going to be pushed even further. Ben learned from his mistakes and is not going to through 27 picks this year. Willie Parker is too predictable and the Steelers are going to have to resort to their passing game. Ward is set up for a few good years of getting big-time gains (1000+ hopefully). Let's not forget that he has a Superbowl MVP as a reciever.
