Sweetness all the way Walter Payton hands down. payton LT. No question about it......I'd pick Payton. Sweetness! He was had all the moves! Waler Payton - he was a freaking beast! Payton LT. Walter was a stud, but LT has everything you want in a running back. Vision, Power, Patience, Speed, Blocks, and catches the ball out of the back field. walter payton i'd have to go with sweetness. LT is awesome, but only time will tell if he will be as great as Walter. Emmitt was good, but the fact that he had the best offensive line in history didn't hurt him. gotta go with LT. Payton and Emmitt had a tremendous offensive line, to where LT gets his yards after the 1st hit. theres no comparing Walter Payton to anyone L.T. .... he grew up in my hometown and i watched him play through high school.... amazing athlete and his contribution to our community is what puts him out in front of everyone. really stand up guy who hasnt forgotten his roots walter payton (DUH) the best rb of all time GO PATRIOTS!!!!! Walter . but Barry Sanders if he was on a any other team but the Lions. WALTER PAYTON - #1 Barry Sanders. id have to say its payton with l.t. second because l.t. hasnt played long enough yet to garner all time great status.
emmitt had the chance to be on an all time great team but he and aikman chose big contracts instead thus the cowboys had to let offensive players like gesek, gogan, stepnoski, alvin harper and ron stone leave because they couldnt afford them.plus several players off the defense like russell maryland, norton jr, many linebackers, jimmie jones....ect
people forget the turnover the offensive line had between the 3 superbowl victories he didnt have the same offensive line every year so his greatness cant be just attributed to them.he did have heart and would play injured he was a great blocker as well and was not a thug like so many of the cowboys at that time but like i said he put his bank account ahead of the team so that puts him in 3rd place in this 3 horse race.i wonder how many more yards and tds emmitt would have had if he had settled for a team oriented salary and the line from superbowl 27 had stayed together. I would pick Walter Payton. He graduated from a small college-Jackson State. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1975.
Walter Payton is the NFL all time leading rusher with 16,726 yards. He holds seven NFL records and 28 Bear records. He was selected to 9 Pro Bowls. The Chicago Bears retired his jersey number 34.
Walter Payton was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993. Walter Payton is truly one of the All-time Great Football Players. Walter Payton I would pick Emmit Smith. He outlasted Payton and holds the rushing record. We shall see about LT in the future.
I freely admit that I am biased, Emmit was a Florida grad. LT is off to a pretty good start but he needs to keep it up for a few more years to even be considered in the same class as Walter, Emmit and Barry.
Emmit played on some outstanding Teams which only added to his success. The Cowboys passing game was always top notch so it opened the run more.
Barry did everything on his own, he never had a team around him his entire career. Imagine Barry playing with Cowboys instead of Emmit. Hands down he would have ran circles around Emmit Smith.
Walter was a stud from the get go and right up to the very end. He played on a some good Teams but he also played with some pretty awful ones and it didn't matter at all. He still got his TD's and punished those who tried stopping him.
Hate the Bears but much respect to the one they called Sweetness. Walter peyton. all the way hands down. Sweetness!!!
He could go around you or right through you. Your choice! I always thought that Payton was the best. But if Tomlinson Plays another 4 or 5 years he will be the best. I hate the Bears, but I felt horrible when Payton died. He was one classy person and the best player to date. Not even a question.......Payton, heres why:
Emmitt Smith only broke Payton's record because he had a hell of an offensive line back then. ANY fans would agree that that OL that the Cowboys had was just waaaay nasty!! If he had the horrid lines Payton had, he probably would have rushed for about the same amount of yards as...LOL...Eddie George!!!
Walter Payton....as I stated earlier had horrible OL but he made his yards running people over and initiating contact rather than running away from it. LT is a different type of back but even HE looks up to Walter, thats his hero, ask him yourself.
If Payton ran behind Dallas' OL for his career, he probably would have had over 20,000 yards!!!! LT, only because he is still playing/alive.
If I was putting together an all NFL team, I would say of the three, Sweetness. walter payton Walter Payton way over the others
