Come on fellow Buckeye fans, It looks like we are going to Number #1 this week in the polls , but do we really deserve this ranking ? yes we have beat the teams we were suppose to beat but our only real Quality win was over Washington , yes the meat of our shedule is upcoming and if we run the table then yes we deserve it but I still think to this point we have alot of unanswered questions , our Defense is Great , but can our offense do the job against a quality defense we will soon see ,
all I can say is GO BUCKEYES !! lets see what happens , either way it goes I still say Div 1 NCAA Football still needs a playoff system then he cream will always rise to the top and we will have no more controverseys on who is really #1

The thing about it is, the Buckeyes have destroyed every team they鈥檝e faced this year, while every other team has either struggled or lost to teams they shouldn鈥檛 have. True, we鈥檝e had it easy going so far, but the Buckeyes deserve to be #1 right now more than anyone else. Their defense is only giving up 7 points a game. I don鈥檛 care how bad the teams are your playing, that鈥檚 impressive. 3 times so far Tressel had to put the second and third string team in before half time.

I don鈥檛 know if we鈥檒l stay number one, but right now we deserve it more than any other undefeated team.

not easy games

I hear ya, big Buckeye fan here but I honestly don't see them running the table to the BCS championship game. The defense cannot carry the load the entire season and I don't think the offense is dynamic enough to overcome a game that they have a defensive lapse. As much as I hate to admit it if they remain undefeated heading into the Michigan game I don't see them leaving that way. Michigan continues to improve weekly, as long as Hart's ankle isn't serious look out.

we may not stack up evenly against LSU or USC or Florida or Oklahoma, but the one thing we have done is take care of buisness. That's all that we can do, win the games that we play. if USC can't win every single game, especially against a team like stanford, and likewise with LSU last night, then they don't deserve that ranking. It has been the most interesting season I have ever seen, and I anticipate there will be some more shakeups later this season, but hopefully we will take care of buisness and stay on top.

Unfortunately, I think OSU has one of the easiest walks to a title game than anyone in recent memory. I don't think they are near as good as say Oklahoma or LSU. I also can't believe they are still playing cupcakes like Kent State this late in the season.

A win out will not even seem satisfy the posters here at yahoo answers, but I put my faith in the polls, good or bad.

PS Stonewall, dont forget about those powerhouses Oklahoma plays (North Texas, Utah State, Tulsa) and that statement game coming up on Nov 10th - Baylor!

well Tressel owns Loyd Carr, Wisconsin has been exposed and Illinois is a huge question mark, so OSU could well go clean. . . but for what? if they have to play Oklahoma, LSU or So. Cal. in the championship what chance do they have? those teams are SCARY and now they all have huge chips on their shoulders. I don't love or hate the big ten, but as an objective observer it dosn't look good.

OSU has yet to play a team ranked in the top 25. Therefore the jury is still out on them. In comparison, LSU lost to #17 Kentucky who has only one loss, beat a top 10 team in Florida, and beat two other top 12 teams, each also having only one loss to this point (both to LSU).

Last year OSU was top rated until playing Florida for the national title.

Avoiding competition may give a team a higher BCS rating, but does little in the way of credibility for their ranking.

Just look at Florida State and the comments Bobby Bowden made years ago when he turned down joining the SEC and joined the ACC. His reasoning was simple; he stated outright that he couldn't win a national championship in the SEC because the competition was too difficult. I lost a lot of respect for Bobby Bowden that day.

Tell me this: What has Ohio State done to show they do NOT deserve their ranking? So they've played mediocre teams so far. Big freaking deal. They finished the season last year number 2, they're undefeated, and they're just now into the meat of their schedule. If they lose anything from here on out they then deserve to go down, but right now they absolutely deserve to be #1, and if they win out they absolutely deserve to be in the BCS title game. Stop being such a negative nancy, and root for your team.
