Prior to 1999 there was no national championship game. Beginning in 1999 SEC participants in the national championship game are:
98/99 Tennessee (won) 03/04 LSU (won) 06/07 Florida.(won)
Prior to that there were watered down versions of sorta national championships where the Big 10 & PAC 10 didn't want to play.
Bowl Alliance 97/98 #3 Tennessee lost to #2 Nebraska 96/97 #3 Florida beat #1 Fla St. 95/96 #2 Florida lost to #1 Nebraska.
Bowl Coalition 92/93 #2 Alabama beat #1 Miami
Prior to that there was no attempt to match #1 vs #2 as the major conferences were locked into Bowl games that generally prevented #1 & #2 from playing, although I think there were a couple of times where it happened by coincidence.
Short answer, since the beginning of a guarantee of #1 vs #2, SEC hasn't lost.
Where there was something close to a national championship game it would be 97/98 when #3 Tennessee lost to #2 Nebraska,
Where 1 versus 2 met, it would be 95/96 when Florida lost to Nebraska.
