So should LSU now get knocked down a few notches because alabama lost to a crappy miss state team?

I mean after all everyone else keeps getting knocked down for wins over teams that the poll's think aren't good..well lets be real miss state isn't a good team..so shouldn't LSU get knocked down for losing to a alabama team we now know isn't very good..but should have beaten LSU. I feel LSU keeps getting love for close wins...while other teams keep getting pushed down for the same reasons.

gotta have it go both ways. can't give one team the benefit of the doubt because of the league it plays in. i mean after all Kentucky is a historically bad team...LSU shouldn't be given love for beating a historically bad team. you can take kansas. you have michigan ranked based off of past history when we all know they havent played anyone and dont deserve to be ranked 12...but suddenly kansas another historically bad team..is in the top 10...well what about bosie state a few years ago. they were going freaking 12-1 for about 3 years straight and couldn't crack the top 15. HISTORICALLY they have

bosie state has been pretty damn good. so where was their love

West Virginia beat the shiite out of Mississippi state and nobody gives them credit for trouncing an SEC team.

Your point about the possibility (likelihood) of the SEC being mediocre rather than strong top to bottom is an excellent one and one I've tried to make in this forum. Citing interleague games like the aforementioned WVU thrashing of Miss St and the South Florida win at Auburn only brings derision and allusions to wild non sequiturs from the SEC faithful.

congratulations, you've proven your ignorance. head on back to the trailer park in wv, i think your sister/wife needs some lovin. Report It

don't know...but you got the coolest dang nickname on YA! how'd you earn it?

Ummmmmmmm, how's no sound. They beat Alabama, didn't they?

Miss State has beat Auburn, Kentucky and now Bama.

Also Boise State has the second weakest schedule next to Hawaii

Mississippi State is now 6-4 and is bowl eligible. LSU shut out Miss. St. 45-0. So what's your gripe?

yeah hold on for a second...LSU LOST to Kentucky and BEAT Alabama. Staighten out your facts.

No, you can't think like that. Each game is separate from the week before. You can't say x struggled against y and x beat z and y lost to z so x should suffer as a result. It's the most awful football fallacy I have ever heard. Not only that, but saying things like "would have" and "should have" talking about how teams have performed in the past does not prove any points you are trying to make. What "should have" happened in the Alabama/LSU game is irrelevant. This is coming from a Florida fan whose team lost in the last minute against LSU. There's always next week and next year.

I also don't like when pollsters especially, bump teams up because of how they have done historically. Michigan this year and USC in previous years have benefited immensely from this line of thinking. Each year is independent from the year before, each week is independent from the week before. Anything else is voter bias.

As for conference strength, it changes every year, every week, and every day as well. Really, I'd say it's an every year thing due to recruiting classes and schedule changes. For the past couple of years, the SEC has been the toughest conference, undoubtedly. Now, the PAC-10 is right up there. It's tough to say whether the SEC level of play has gotten better or worse. I'd like to think it has gotten better all around, but I don't know. I think it's mostly due to more teams using the spread offense. It allows for a team to spread the defense out, which enables bigger plays and evens the playing field between stronger and weaker teams, hence this season's upsets (look at what offense Appalachain State runs). A lot of teams in the SEC are using it, and teams in other conferences (like the PAC-10) are using it as well. I think we are just starting to see how teams are adapting to a different style of play.

Well, I dont really know how "crappy" Miss. State really is, they beat Bama, Auburn, and Kentucky, they may not be a powerhouse but they had to be fairly good to beat those teams. LSU is a good team they just have a sucky coach.

I think so, they lost already to another SEC team and Oregon and Dennis Dixion are better

Yeah, Mississippi State lost to LSU 45-0, but it was the first game of the year and I don't think they would beat them like that now. MSU is hardly crappy!!! Not to say that they would have a chance of winning. I doubt that. But they would compete. Again, MSU is not crappy!!! As far as I am concerned, Oregon is the real #1 or #2 and will be punished for being in a conference that does not have a championship game in addition to the fact that everybody WANTS LSU in the championship game. I personally think Oklahoma and Oregon are the best teams in the country. But that's just me.

HELL NO! Did you see any of the LSU games this year? Beat Miss State and Alabama. Beat Florida, Auburn. Only lost to Kentucky. Come on now. All you Tiger haters out there. Poo on y'all!

ummm... are you retarted? LSU won the Alabama game. Do you even keep up with football or do you just listen to what others tell you? And maybe Alabama lost this week do to getting beat up by LSU last weekend. Was a physical game and maybe Alabama didn't fully recover. All you SEC haters should sit and watch some of the games and realize that it really is a tough conference. If you think your Boise State would win all but one game in the SEC you are nuts!!! And the reason Kansas isn't ranked any higher is their schedule. Hawaii is unbeaten and not in the top ten because they don't play anyone. Only way to solve all of this is a playoff system but till then there will always be controversy. But at least have your facts straight before attacking a team.

Ah. So according to you "michigan...haven't played anyone and don't deserve to be ranked 12" and yet Ohio St. has one of the worst ranked strength of schedules and that goes unrecognized to you.

They should be knocked down a few notches because if it wasn't for their corrupt home refs, they would have 3-4 losses right now.

but LSU beat Miss. St. 45-0 AT Miss. St....

LSU should probably get nocked down a notch or two. Or at least until they prove that they deserve to be ranked #2. If you watched the Alabama game LSU made numerous mistakes.
We gave up 130 yards in penalties, and gave them 6 first down on penalties. We had 3 interceptions that resulted in touchdowns and field goals. Im hoping LSU will come back and play to thier potential, then there will be no controversy.
