oh man Gib_Guy... you definatly showed him with your ridiculously good grammar... When you are that good at football as a recruit you don't need the grades to get in.. they just give you scholorships and have you major in basket weaving classes.. don't get me wrong I'm not saying that all football players there are dumb, they just lower the standards to help get some kids in who other wise would never be able to make it into the school.. I'm sure most of the kids at the school are pretty intelligent.. they just lower the standards for athletic purposes..

Have you ever been to Baton Rouge? or New Orleans? There's a high football I.Q., but not much else going on in those noggins! I'm surprised the standards are even equivalant to those of a C.C.

Leave it to a USC fan to attack LSU on their academic standards. This is a football forum. Besides, 7 out of 10 of the starting lineup at LSU will go on to play at the next level, making more in one year than some idiot liberal arts student at USC. What standards are you refering to? Who said their standards are low, as far as that matter goes, what's wrong with community colleges? Usually education is what you make of it. Reputations are just hype or in this case bad PR. It is best to explain your feelings rather than generalize or label it since my conception of academic standard likely differ from yours. US News & World Report writters have their own criteria as well. You can't be everything to everyone. But is the institution serving the public and meeting its' needs? .... Is Yale, LSU, Community College, etc? If so, then they deserve more than a black eye with a confrontational remark as you posted. Can't we all just respect one another?

I think a University that allows people to better themselves is a good thing. Every college can't be an ivy league university. The are a lot of public university's that accept all students. You still have to pass the classes to play. It is up to the football players whether they want to make the most out of there scholarships.

WOW!! You must be a Trojan fan. LSU has a great academic program and a standard for all of it's football players. Skip Bertman (AD) at LSU makes all athletes maintain a 2.6 GPA to be allowed to play sports. So I beleive the standards are their at LSU. If you are upset that we are #1 in the AP pole, just relax. All USC has to do is go undefeated and meet us in New Orleans for the National Championship.

LSU is not the only school that does this and it happens in all sports plus then can take classes like basket ball 101 with question like, how many point is a three point shot worth, it is a shame that the NCAA lets these schools get away with this they are making a joke of the education system they should give these scholarships to kids that want an education not to one that just want to show off for the pro scouts
