Anyone else think its amusing LSU fans want to slam West Virginia for a close rivelry game last night while LSU has squeaked by against a ton of mediocre teams? (in fact in some looking like they might have paid off the SEC officials in order to win?)

i think it is the entire SEC, if you are not in that conference you are not worthy of college football, so I have started to ignore them, because they have yet to step outside of the box and take a look at other programs, they just look at the score and say, hey they suck

Evey team LSU "squeaked by" was ranked in the top 20. WV squeaked by a 5 loss Louisville team that was not ranked in the top 50.

I am an LSU fan and I agree we have been mighty lucky in a couple of games. I don't believe the officiating comment though, we have had an awful lot of penalties called against us. If we are pay off the refs, we need to pay more or find the right guy to pay off!! LOL
Rich Brooks from Kentucky flat out coached "The Hat", we out manned Alabama, we got lucky against Auburn and Florida. Luck is when opportunity meets preparation, so I guess we made our luck. However I don't think LSU fans should be pounding our collective chests just yet, there is a very dangerous Arkansas team coming to town, the only reason we beat Arkansas last year is because Nutt is more stupid than Miles. We still have the SEC championship game. Lotta football to be played.

The funny thing is that all the close games LSU played were supposed to be close because they were ranked teams we played. Wasnt WV a heavy favorite last night at home? Its funny how your team is the greatest thing since sliced bread when they squeak by a weak Big Least team, but when LSU wins close ones over much better ranked teams its somehow a fluke.

It's inter-conference play and anything can happen. It's no different than OSU just getting by Michigan State. I will say at least LSU's victories were against ranked opponents.

West Virginia was a joke last night, they should hang their heads in shame to have that horrible display on national TV. Several teams have had bad games, I know I am a USC fan. LSU is clearly the best team in the nation and will destroy Ohio State or Oregon in the BCS Championship game. The only team I think would give LSU a real game is Oklahoma.

But it's not only LSU fans. It's pure perception. I guess they forget that WVU has been BEGGING teams from the SEC and PAC 10 to play them and they have all declined until AFTER Pat White and Steve Slaton are gone. I was sickened last night to see how WVU's win was considered "sloppy" while other teams are AMAZING for coming back the way they did. It's all a joke until there is a playoff teams and teams actually start playing each other. I would put WVU against any of the teams above them. I'm not saying 100% they would win (that would still be an educated guess), but they would give any of those teams a run for their money.

I believe the coach of Mississippi State said it best when he said, "We've played against all the SEC teams and none of them are as fast as WVU."

Respect is due....especially considering WVU has won bowl games in the past 2 years against an SEC team and an ACC team.

West Virginia - Western Michigan, Marshall, Maryland, East Carolina, Mississippi State.
Rutgers - Buffalo, Navy, Norfolk St., Maryland, Army.
USF - Elon, Auburn (i'll give you this one, big win), North Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Central Florida.
Louisville - Murray State, Mid Tennessee State, Kentucky (play every year), NC State, Utah.
Connecticut - Duke, Maine, Temple, Virginia, Akron.
Cincinnati - SE Missouri State, Oregon State, Miami (OH), Marshall, San Diego State.

Wow those are some tough non-conference schedules. Now the difference is these weak *** teams not only play these weak out of conference schedules but they play each other. The SEC beats each other up week in and week out. They don't have to go out of conference to increase their strength of schedule. That's a fact.

On a side note, when West Virginia put a beat down (38-35) on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, that was nothing more than Georgia over-looking what they thought was a soft Big East Team. They found out quickly that West Virginia was not weak. However, once they got their heads right, they put the beat down on West Virginia. If that game was 3 minutes longer or Georgia didn't GIVE West Virgina that fake punt at the end, Georgia would have came back and won that game and the Big East would have nothing to hang their hat on.

In conclusion, the Big East has one good team: West Virginia. Everyone else is a joke; including Connecticut, who is nothing more than a cute little side story. Quit trying to convince everybody that you are a big boy conference. You're not!!

What mediocre teams are you talking about? Is it the defending National Champion Florida Gators who were ranked 9 at the time or maybe the #17 Alabama Crimson Tide in Alabama? The thing is LSU has played 6 ranked teams so far and beat 5 of them. Their loss came on the road against another ranked team (17) in triple OT!

The SEC has 7 ranked teams! Thats more then half their teams in the top 25. Not to mention their is 1 team in the SEC with a losing record (Miss) The closest to that is the ACC, Big 12, and Pac-10 with 4 teams each!

It's convenient I guess that most big schools outside the SEC refuse to schedule SEC games. I respect the crap out of Cal and Va Tech for answering the bell. Most teams outside the SEC cower away from the phone calls of SEC AD's because they don't want to take the risk of losing their National Championship hopes. Not to mention, if SEC teams had to play Louisville, Rutgers, Cinncinatti, South Florida, etc. as their conference schedule, then they'd have to play with bigger schools during off weaks to improve their Strength of Schedule - something that you conveniently forget about.

LSU is a very good team, but not the best. They have been beaten, does that make the team who beat them, the best? No way. The SEC is an overrated conference. Most of the schools play weak non-conference schools.
