Since they lost to Texas a couple of years ago they have not made any adjustments to stop the spread offense or a mobile quarterback They've been in the top 10 in recuriting the last few years ,so supposedly have the talent. They got rid of Jim Herrman, who had the nations best defense in 97, so who is to blame for the unprecedented falloff of Michigan football? This is the year that Lloyd Carr will be exposed for the overated coach he is. I'm sure he is a great person and runs a tight ship with his players, to an extent, but Michigan football has not fallen this far in the 32 years I've been a Michigan fan. Something has to change.

Something has to change alright, and that thing is the style of mid-west football: 3 runs and a cloud of dust. Followed by a punt.

The successful teams who run the spread will do two things, cut your "straight up the middle" teams to pieces with speed and skill, and prepare their better players for the NFL.

The only thing old-school offenses have going for them is predictability, and reliability in bad weather. But with global warming, you won't have too many games in rain or snow anymore.
