Do you think the hatred of Notre Dame by many fans would decrease if they joined a conference?

Just a thought...The Big 11 seems like a nice fit fo them, considering they play half of the teams in the league anyway.

Your thoughts?

And by Big 11 I meant Big 10....its just weird to me that they still call it that when they have 11 schools.

No. I think the reason people hate ND is the media and the fans. They both overrate the team when they really aren't that good. And they overate them even more when they do have a good team. The fans especially are poor losers and winners. If they lose they whine and if they win they rub it in. Whatever happened to saying good game guys instead of you suck.. ..

Sorry I am a lifef long ND fan and take the losses just like any other fan of any other team, I am mad they lost but not dillusional that they were screwed. I also do not run it in to others when ND beats someone. Report It

ND is young this year, it could be a down year...an "Alabama year" as many call it now (an overhyped group that losses too much) but with youth you and never sure what to expect. ND fans just have higher expectations of their University. Report It

It wouldn't make not hate them

I don't know why, I just don't like Notre Dame

and good point, why do they still call it the Big Ten?

As a huge ND fan I would say that people will hate them no matter if they are independent or not. For some it is a religious issue, for some they just hate the hype that goes with success and for others they hate the fact that they do it clean and are a little pickier than say FSU that picks their players up from the pen.

The Big Ten is someone they play a lot but they are trying to get away from that, they are trying to pack in more Big 12 and if the SEC or ACC would they want to play them as well. People hate them because they are on every week and their team is not. Success breeds contempt!

Why Notre Dame want to joint a conference, they can have all the money from BCS bowl game to themself. If they joint a conference they have to split the money to each team in the conference. But if they were to joint a conference, yeah everybody will hate them because they perceived ND as a mere moral now that they joint a conference. They're not that team that everybody rave about anymore cause you get to play them every year.

get rid of that contract with NBC which is completely unfair to the rest of football because all other teams have to share time on ESPN and CBS as well as have some games on pay-per-view, then quit letting them in the BCS with 4 losses.. then make them split up that revenue for the BCS games.. then maybe.. just maybe I'll quit hating on ND

i agree if they would just join the big 10 they could divide it into 2 divisions and actually have a championship game. The biggest problem I have with the Irish is that they should never be included in a BCS bowl picture. Because they aren't in a conference they should come behind the WAC or the Mac before bowl time comes around.

My second issue is the fans are idiots. The team hasn't been good for years yet because the fans are so delusional they have an exclusive television deal, which is actually the major reason they won't join a conference.(losing TV revenue is too much for the folks from South Bend)

I rest my case Bdough15 what has NOtre Dame done in the last 5 years? Let alone the last 8 or 9.
They suck in bowl games and they just brought in the next over rated qb in Clausen they are bad really really bad. Go outside of Indiana for a minute and see where the national championship has been lately. Notre Dame football is at an all time low buddy!

I just hate crappy teams, and they seem to field a lot of them.

No, its a tradition, you either love ND or hate ND. There is no middle ground.
